The foundational definition of yoga in the Yoga Sutras, is beyond physical exercise. We can use our yoga practices to help train our mind to become calm and stable so we can be fully present, focused, and not attached to every passing thought.

This doesn’t mean thinking less all the time, it means not being controlled by every thought that arises and our potential reactive behavioural responses to these.

🎯 Why this matters

When the mind stops jumping from one thought to another, we:
✔ Feel less overwhelmed
✔ Think more clearly
✔ Are more present in life
✔ Can connect to our deeper self or awareness

Easy huh? For me, NOT AT ALL……! That’s why I return again and again. That’s why I keep showing up, continue to practice, share, learn, grow, develop and fail.

At the moment, with some of life’s most difficult challenges staring me in the face, staying grounded and supported by my yoga practice (in all its guises), is my corner stone. 🫶

Sending you love for the challenges in your life. With peace, gentleness and compassion x x x

A saṅkalpa isn’t a goal to achieve or something to fix. (You are perfect as you are!) It’s a quiet intention, a gentle remembering of what matters most.

We plant a saṅkalpa not by force, but by creating the right conditions through breath, movement, stillness, and awareness.

You might consider the values that are important to you that you wish to nurture such as:

Grace, Ease, Kindness, Presence, Compassion, Truthfulness, and Integrity.

A saṅkalpa meets us where we are and grows over time, shaped by patience, practice, and care.

The tricky part comes when we’re faced with challenges or feel dysregulated and to meet the situation with the values that matter most to us, along with presence and awareness.

At the end of every class we end with our hands in prayer or Anjali Mudrā, s symbolising harmony, intention and action, to our inner and outer worlds. By placing hands together at the heart, it invites us to slow down and centre, to be present and grounded.

We gently bring the thumbs to the third eye:

Let there be love, peace, patience and compassion in my thoughts to myself and to others.

Then to the lips:

Let there be love, peace, patience and compassion in my words to myself and to others.

Finally to the heart:

Let there be love, peace, patience and compassion in my heart to myself and to others.

Wishing you a peaceful start to your week,
Louise x x

Hi, I’m Louise, a yoga teacher and yoga therapist, welcome to my page!

Yoga has been part of my life forever as my dad practised for many years and now comes to my online classes. I teach online and in person classes with a focus on supporting women experiencing menopause symptoms, restorative to find regulation in this bonkers world and more recently gaining my qualification as a Yoga Therapist.

I love a kitchen disco grape-vining to a 90’s tune, reliving my aerobic days and enjoying time with my wonderful family & friends. Time outdoors particularly in and by the sea is my happy place, throw in a sauna for the icing on my cake!

I would love to hear from you if you’re thinking about starting your yoga journey. Please don’t be put off by fancy shapes and the latest gear, comes as you are and get to know your body gently, with compassion.

Yoga therapy is a wonderful modality to sit alongside a talking therapy, physio or other complimentary therapies, as well as a powerful stand-alone therapeutic approach.

I would love to hear from you if you are curious to discover your own hidden treasures.

My favourite is Viparita Karani, legs up
the wall, literally my ‘go to’. It is a wonderful tonic to relieve the sense of depletion and fatigue that we can experience, especially during menopause, stressful times & returning to work. This shape helps to relax into the parasympathetic nervous system, as well as soothing for the legs and ankles.

If a wall is not available hook your legs over a chair and allow the upper body to be supported on the floor. A great one to do during the day at the office or working from home! Keep warm with a blanket over you and socks if needed. It can be extra juicy with a beautiful scented eye pillow resting on the forehead or over the eyes.

Try before bedtime for a more restful sleep.

Meaningful change sometimes begins with a pause, a breath, or a moment of awareness. As we move into this new calendar year, I’m reflecting on how we can meet ourselves more kindly.

Yoga therapy invites a different kind of change, one rooted in awareness rather than effort, and in listening rather than striving. It’s about noticing how the body responds to stress, how the breath shifts with emotion, and how small, consistent practices can support regulation and resilience over time.

This year might be about doing things differently: moving gently, breathing consciously, and creating space to respond rather than react.

Yoga therapy offers practical pathways to support this, helping to build a steadier relationship with our bodies, our nervous systems, and our inner world.

Welcome curiosity and compassion into your life. I’d love to support you on this journey, please get in touch x 🌿

Long shot, I have had to cancel a retreat/holiday to Kerala on 19/1 for 8 days with Yoga United Holidays ~ it will be beautiful ✨

I’m just seeing if anyone is able to fill the spot at such short notice? 8 days full board, restorative yoga, pool, sea, stunning scenery £1300 (not including flights) there’s an Ayurvedic centre on site with incredible treatments.

Let me know if you are keen x x

Gentle reminder this festive period to take time. Noticing when you’re adapting your truth to suit the needs of others.

Just notice.

Notice the sensations that arise in your body, lengthen your breath, soothe your nervous system. All will be well and I’m sending you a huge hug wherever you are.

Thank you for sharing my ramblings x x x 🎄♥️🎄

As this season starts to take on a momentum of its own, we may need more opportunities to pause. To calibrate. To be present (‘scuse the pun), or to hide away!

The gentle practice of Bhramari breath or Bee breath🐝 can help to:

Calm the nervous system;
Release tension in the throat and the body;
Brings you into the present;
Reduce stress.

Go gently with yourselves and sending you love.
