🔷6 simple back exercises/stretches to help you every day! ⬇️

1. The Cobra -Starting on your tummy, then gently pushing up onto your forearms then if able to progressing the stretch onto your hands for a full back extension.

2. Cat/Camel - great for mobility of the spine as well as a nice stretch! Tips for this one are, making sure you really round your back in the top position and really sink your back for the lower position - please take awareness of head position in each picture as it is an important part of the stretch.

3. Child Pose - releases tension throughout the back and upper body - important to drive your bum towards your heels to increase the stretch- make sure you breath into this position.

4. Glute Bridge - It is important we start to restrengthen the muscles that support the back - a glute bridge is a great compound movement that works your hips, core, hamstrings and of course your glutes 🍑 - top tip for this is to squeeze your glutes before you lift your hips - and to make sure your drive your hips all the way up to make a straight line from knee - hip and shoulder.

5. Bird Dog - This exercise targets your core control and can be quite a difficult exercise to get right. When completed properly you WILL feel this working - trust me! The aim is to keep your back flat, squeeze the core, and lift the opposite arm to leg out and tuck back in without letting your pelvis tip. Imagine there is a tray of drinks on your back that you can’t spill! If this one is a little tricky to control at first try just bringing one leg out at a time and controlling this before progressing.

6. Clams/ Abductor lifts - This is a burner! In these pictures I am using a resistance band to increase the load however you can complete these without a band! Make sure your back is straight and you are not rotating as you complete the lifts. This exercise is working the top outside of your leg/hip, simply by lifting the leg up and down in straight leg position and the knee up and down keeping ankles together!

What is a strategy call?

A zoom or phone call to talk about your pain/issue where we get to know you and your problem.

What do you get out of it?

You will understand your pain, how you can help yourself and what your rehab program will look like.

Why is it free?

This is essentially your first appointment, where we would usually assess you in clinic. This allows us to work out whether we are the right people to work with you and it doesn’t cost you a penny to find out.

Regaining control of your breathing

COVID-19 is a disease that most of us know to affect our respiratory system.

Here’s an exercise to try to control your breathing.

In the beginning it will feel difficult, however with practice it will improve.

We understand that these would be difficult once already out of breath, therefore would suggest to complete as a morning routine to start your day.

A time of day that you’ll remember is best, but your day changes all the time so when best suits you.

As years go, for a business this year has been great, challenging, busy, quiet, open and shut and open again 🤣

From the beginning of the year following different levels of restrictions, to the end of the summer employing our wonderful new therapist Connor!

On a personal note for Steph it’s come with a huge change in taking on a new full time position in football, and relying heavily on Connor to hold down the fort which he has been excellent at!

A HUGE thank you to each and every one of you who continue to support us in every way shape and form, whether that be booking appointments, entering our competitions, liking, commenting and sharing our posts! We wouldn’t be able to survive without you!

We hope you have a brilliant New Years and we hope that 2022 brings you health, love and laughter with your nearest and dearest!

We look forward to seeing you all back in January! 🎉
