When the storms come, and you are brought once more to your knees; hands trembling, heart pounding; turn to face the sky. Let the rain soak you through to your bones. Dig your feet deeper into the earth. Allow yourself to be weathered.
You cannot resist life. Your only work here is to stay open in the midst of pain. To let it be your teacher. To soften your resistance, to let go of wishing things were different from how they are.
Sometimes life asks us to be brave. To be honest.
To stop running.
To confront what is.
To sit with it all.
And to stay.
So keep softening.
Keep surrendering.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Bow to life in all its forms.
Breathe it in. Breathe it out.
And surrender to what is, to what may be.
For in this softening, in this surrender, you will find your strength.
