Did you know?
---
The NHS is struggling under ever increasing costs. One of these costs which continues to escalate is that of SMS messaging. We use these important messages to contact you about appointments, results and for many other reasons. However, every text message we send comes at a cost!
---
But there is an alternative! By clicking on this link and downloading the NHS app, this allows us to contact you via the app instead which is FREE:
https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/
----
If you already have the app, please ensure you turn on notifications as otherwise the messages will automatically revert back to SMS which will cost the NHS money.
---
This is just one simple step you can take towards supporting your NHS and Grangewood Surgery.
---
Thank you for your support.

Download the NHS App, or open the NHS website in a web browser, to set up and log in to your NHS account. Owned and run by the NHS, your NHS account is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services online.

As you will likely have seen in the press, due to repeated funding cuts general practice is in crisis. We continue to do our best to offer the best care and service we can possibly provide however this is becoming increasingly difficult given the conditions we are being forced to work under. Please watch and share this short video explaining the pressures we are experiencing.
——
We would like to ask that in the coming months, if it is required, that you continue to support Grangewood Surgery in the same way you always have done in the past. Ultimately it is your best interests we have at heart.
——
Thank you as always for your ongoing support.

**** High Priority ****
-----
We are sorry to inform you that there there is a national network issue occurring at present. This means we have no access to any medical records or appointment data. Unfortunately due to the complexity of work we undertake we are unable to see the majority of patients safely without this information.
-----
This means we are having to CANCEL most of our appointments today and we will endeavor to rebook them as soon as possible.
-----
We apologise for the inconvenience however please can we ask that people are respectful to our reception staff whilst they ring around. We understand there will be a lot of disappointment however this is due to circumstances which are out of our control.
-----
We will obviously continue to see emergency presentations where we can. If patients can share this post it will help us spread the message to make as many people as possible aware.
-----
Thank you for your ongoing support,

If you haven't had your blood pressure checked in the last 5 years by us then you might have received a text message over the last year asking you to submit one.
----
We have now looked at our data and can confirm that 250 people have taken us up on that offer which has allowed us to identify 55 cases of undiagnosed high blood pressure. These patients are now receiving the treatment and monitoring they need to prevent heart attacks and strokes in the future.
----
If you are not one of the 250 people who have chosen to engage we are going to send some more text messages out later this week. Alternatively you can book an appointment with one of our HCAs or attend your local pharmacy for a BP check.
----
Over 1 in 5 of the people who did this have been found to have an undiagnosed high blood pressure. Please make sure you aren't one of the cases which is missed.
----
Thanks as always for your ongoing support

In 2023 there were 1431 missed appointments at Grangewood Surgery alone. At a cost of £39/appointment this is a loss of over £55,000 to the NHS. More importantly these missed appointments could have been used by those who really need them.
--
Please do your bit for the NHS and ensure that you remember to turn up for your appointments or cancel them if you are unable.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support
