Meet the Panel

⭐Gillian Grey⭐

Gillian has managed the business since it was established with her husband Andrew in 2011 after previously working in management for Royal Caribbean cruise line travelling the world🌍 .

Working alongside Andrew and the rest of the staff in the office, she manages the team and assists in all aspects of the clerical side of funeral arrangements and aftercare of the families.

The most rewarding part of her role is helping bereaved families during their most difficult time to ensure all is done in accordance with and their loved ones wishes.

Outside of work, Gillian enjoys walking Monty the dog 🐕 and taking their son to watch Sunderland AFC🔴⚪ when he’s not playing football⚽ himself

As a way of giving back to our local area, the Andrew Grey Community Fund aims to provide funding support for community-based projects which improve the quality of life of people living within two miles of Andrew Grey Funeral Directors’s branches in Hetton-Le-Hole, Houghton Le Spring, Easington Lane and South Hetton.

Local charities will be awarded funding toward the cost of a specific, community-focused project. We aim to fund projects that run for 3 months or longer, but we may consider shorter projects if ongoing community benefits can be demonstrated.

In order to be eligible to receive funding, the project must align with one or more of the fund categories: Health, Education, Employment Opportunities, Poverty/Social Deprivation. Grants are available for amounts up to £750.

We will run two application cycles over the course of the year:

Meet our Panel
⭐Andrew Grey ⭐

Andrew first experienced funerals when he was just a child, as his parents Mary and Syd were Lay Minsters at the Easington Lane Independent Methodist Church where they would conduct services .
Leaving school Andrew learned to play the piano🎹 and keyboards at the same church and embarked on a music career which took him around the country 🌍 .
Returning to the Northeast and after working within the funeral industry he set up his own business in Hetton-le-Hole.
The three other branches then came along at Easington Lane, Houghton le Spring and South Hetton.
Andrew is married to Gillian and is a dedicated family man. He enjoys a coffee ☕ or 3 and walking his dog Monty🐕 when he’s not watching his son play football ⚽.
