🌸 A TRADITION LIVES ON! 🌸
Yesterday, Gillian was at Hetton Lyons Primary School for the Annual Maypole Celebration where the playground was full of bright ribbons, smiles, and incredible teamwork 🪕✨
Did you know this beautiful tradition dates back at least 55 years ago since it was first performed at Hetton Lyons and they have proudly kept this piece of local history alive for generations, connecting our amazing pupils straight to our heritage. 📜❤️
Huge congratulations to the brilliant dancers this year! Mastering the intricate braids—like the Barber’s Pole and the Spider’s Web—takes weeks of hard work, rhythm, and immense coordination. One wrong step can tangle the whole pole, but the children worked in perfect sync to weave and unweave the ribbons flawlessly. 🩰🎗️(i know i wasn't that good when i danced it 😆)
Also a big shout out to the year 6 line dancers , Gillian said you smashed it with the crowd clapping and cheering along 😀👏
