Rob and Lucy certainly showed their superpowers today when the rest of the team couldn’t make it! They served 24 customers and kept smiling (nearly!) all the time. Most importantly, they proved to themselves that they could do it and our lovely customers will understand if things sometimes take a little longer. Great teamwork and great support from Gill too. Feet up now?!

We move into autumn with the promise of home made hearty soups and some traditional desserts. This week we’re featuring Bread Pudding!

Well - what an afternoon - our Macmillan lunch certainly followed Rob’s brief of wanting balloons and a party feel! We served a choice of cottage pie, toasties, jacket potatoes, ginger sponge and trifle to 36 customers, had little cakes to celebrate 3 September birthdays, ran out of cutlery, didn’t have enough mugs and even did a couple of take aways. But it was worth it just to see old friends and familiar faces enjoying lunch and each others company. The icing on the cake is that we raised a brilliant £400 for Macmillan cancer support!!
Thank you to the team for all their hard work and Jess and Gill for going over and above what they needed to do (and Michael for being thrown in at the deep end and clearing tables with enthusiasm!).
A big thank you to the sewing group for sacrificing some of their tables and to Deborah Lees Selemba for taking all the photos. And of course, a big thank you to all our customers and everyone who has donated. We’re putting our feet up now but will be back next Tuesday - but without the balloons!

On Tuesday we will not be charging set prices for food but asking for donations for Macmillan instead.

You can pop cash in the box or there will be posters with a QR code to pay directly from your phone into our Macmillan Just Giving account.
