We had the absolute honour of looking after baby Hughie and his family when he passed away. Being entrusted with his care was a privilege we never take lightly. Funeral Service Specialist, Kevin Taylor supported the family throughout and worked closely with them in helping design and create this beautiful, personal tribute.

Our care never ends after the funeral service it continues right through to the creation of a lasting memorial. Working alongside our trusted memorial partners, we ensure every detail is just as the family wishes ✨

Seeing Hughie’s beautiful Mickey Mouse headstone come together, from the very first stages to its final place today, has been incredibly special. Every part of it reflects a little life, a huge love, and a forever place to visit, remember, and feel close.

It is always a privilege to walk alongside families during the hardest of times, and to create something that truly reflects their wishes and their love.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team at B&M Houghton for their very generous donation towards our Easter Egg Appeal 🍫✨

This year, all donations are supporting Love, Amelia, a Sunderland-based charity offering support to families experiencing poverty and hardship across the North East, so contributions like this really do make a difference.

Once again, the team at B&M have gone above and beyond for our local community, and we are so grateful for their support. Thank you for accepting donations from their customers in support of our appeal!

We are still happily accepting donations, which can be dropped off at any of our funeral homes in Houghton, Shiney Row, Chester-le-Street, or Charles Embleton Washington.

And of course… a special mention to the wonderful Claire for absolutely owning the photo opportunity, we’re starting to think she’s missed her calling as a professional model! 😄📸

when the flowers

have gone home,

that’s when
the quiet begins.

The house
feels different.

The chair
they used to sit in
feels empty.

People think
the hardest day
was the goodbye.

But sometimes

the hardest days
come later.

Weeks later.

Months later.

Years later.

Because grief
doesn’t follow
a schedule.

It simply
walks beside you,

showing up
in memories,
in silence,

and in the moments
you wish
you could share
with them.

And in those moments,

what a grieving heart
needs most

is not explanations,

not advice,

but someone
who stays

and understands

that love
doesn’t end

just because

This week, Business Lead Stuart Tait spent both Tuesday and Thursday afternoons delivering our “Dispelling the Myths of the Funeral Director” seminars for the team at Picktree House Care Home. 💙

The sessions were held at our Chester-le-Street funeral home, where staff were given an insight into the care and processes involved when we are entrusted with looking after a loved one.

It was great to welcome the team and see such engagement throughout, with positive feedback from those who attended.
