Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our wonderful caregivers and cherished clients! 💚

Today is about more than just wearing green (although we fully support a good green jumper moment 👕🍀). It’s about celebrating heritage, community, kindness, and the connections that bring us together.

As a family-owned business, St. Patrick’s Day is especially meaningful to us, as we’re proud to have Irish roots in our own family. So yes… there may be a little extra enthusiasm for the Irish tunes in the office today! 🇮🇪🎶

Celebrating cultural traditions is such a special way to honour identity, spark memories, and bring joy to those we support. Sometimes it’s the music, sometimes it’s a familiar saying — and sometimes it’s just debating whether it’s St. Paddy’s Day (it is 😉).

⏰ DON’T FORGET… The clocks go forward on Sunday 29th March 2026

For many older adults, even small changes to routine can affect sleep and daily comfort. As the clocks change, it can help to make small adjustments to support a smoother transition.

A few simple tips:
• Encourage plenty of rest
• Reduce stimulation during the evening
• Keep the home well-lit in the evening and early morning

A little preparation can make the change easier for everyone.

🚨 Important home safety reminder 🚨

Guidance from RoSPA on accidental poisoning has recently been featured in the Daily Mail, highlighting a growing risk for older adults and people living with dementia.

The statistics are concerning:
• ⚠️ 5,770 accidental poisoning deaths last year – a 63% rise in a decade
• 👵 Older adults are twice as likely to die from accidental poisoning as the general population
• 🏥 17,252 hospital admissions in England linked to poisoning in 2024

Many incidents involve everyday household items like cleaning sprays, laundry pods, garden chemicals and medication. For someone living with dementia, cognitive changes can make these products look like food, drink, or other harmless items.

💡 RoSPA’s key safety tips:
✅ Keep products in their original containers and store lookalike bottles separately
🧴 Remove highly toxic items that are rarely used (like oven cleaners)
💊 Ask a pharmacist to review medications and how they are packaged
👀 Observe how your loved one manages everyday tasks like cooking or cleaning – it can help identify when extra support may be needed
