A question we get asked more than you might think: "What's the difference between going to an independent audiologist and one of the big high-street chains?"

It's a fair question and one that deserves an honest answer.

We've written about it properly, covering everything from brand independence and product choice to what long-term care actually looks like. No names named, no score-settling: just a straightforward look at what to expect and what to ask before you book anywhere.

If you or someone you know is weighing up their options, it might be worth a read. 👇

"I never assumed that it wasn't normal."
So many people live with hearing loss for years without realising, because it creeps up so gradually that it just becomes... life.
This is why we do what we do. 🎧
If something feels off, trust that feeling. A free hearing assessment takes less than an hour and it could change everything.

⛳ What a wonderful day out for an incredible cause!

We were honoured to attend the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce Annual Charity Golf Day in support of Amaze, a charity that stands by every family in Brighton & Hove and East Sussex with disabled children and young people, regardless of diagnosis.

At Sussex Audiology Centre, community is everything. Days like this remind us why. 🙌

Bryce and Sam from Sussex Audiology Centre are taking on the incredible Picos de Europa challenge this September in support of the Children’s Respite Trust! 🏔️💙

From 11th–16th September, they’ll join a larger CRT team to tackle the breathtaking mountain range in northern Spain, raising vital funds to support children with disabilities and their families.

Having supported many individuals and families living with disability through their work at Sussex Audiology Centre, Bryce and Sam are passionate about helping people navigate hearing loss with confidence and understanding.

Speaking about the challenge, Bryce shared: “Sam and I are delighted to be taking part in the Picos de Europa challenge in support of the Children’s Respite Trust. This is a meaningful opportunity for us to give back to the community and to contribute to the incredible work the charity does in supporting children with disabilities and their families, who face daily challenges with resilience and strength.”

You can hear perfectly… but still struggle to understand what people are saying. 👂
That's Auditory Processing Disorder and it's more common than most people realise.

APD is a neurological condition where the ears work fine, but the brain struggles to make sense of sound. It's not a hearing problem. It's a processing problem.

Signs to look out for:
✦ Constantly asking people to repeat themselves
✦ Struggling in noisy environments
✦ Mishearing words or instructions
✦ Difficulty with reading, spelling or phonics.

APD is often missed or misdiagnosed, but understanding it is the first step to getting the right support.
