In my experience, one of the greatest benefits of being coached, aside from truly getting to know yourself and cultivating self compassion is the clarity it brings. You begin to see what you really want to happen in your life and from that place of awareness, you can take intentional steps to make those dreams a reality.

We all have goals and visions but the blocks that get in the way can feel so debilitating and that is why I find this work so powerful. There’s a phrase I love which is that ‘you’ve got to name it to tame it.’ Watching people melt their blocks, find their strength and create strategies which allow real change to unfold is deeply rewarding.

I am about to launch a new business and I am mid block smashing myself as I go but I also have a couple of spaces coming up for coaching clients, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch 🫶

💫 From Shame To Self Acceptance: My ADHD Story

At choir on Wednesday (did I mention that I’ve joined a choir? 😆), I sat next to a lovely woman. She introduced herself and said, “I’ll probably forget your name next week as I’m hopeless with names.” I joked “Same. I’m ADHD and that seems to be part of the profile.” Her eyes widened and she started to ask questions, then asked for my psychiatrist’s details (the words “my psychiatrist” would have flooded me with shame a few years ago).

When I asked if she thought she might be ADHD, she nodded and we ended up having the most open, heart to heart conversation.

I’ve noticed that instant and deep connection often happens between ADHDers once we drop the mask. Honesty and depth are part of the profile but I also realise that connection only happens when we’re willing to be open first.

When I was first diagnosed I felt so ashamed - a mix of relief, fear and judgment. It was when adult diagnosis was barely talked about and I realised that I’d been masking my whole life. Thankfully I’m surrounded by kind, emotionally intelligent people but there were some I had to build courage to tell. When I told one person close to me their response was “Well I always knew you were mad” which crushed me. Now I see that comment says everything about their emotional intelligence and nothing about me and firm, loving boundaries are in place.

I no longer view ADHD as a disorder but as a brain style that needs care, understanding and structure. When symptoms flare life isn’t easy and that’s why I was drawn to nutrition, yoga, meditation, cold water therapy, nature and breathwork to regulate my ADHD driven nervous system.

Last week I ran out of my medication (my bag was stolen in London 😭 and we had also moved house so I was transitioning over to a new GP). It took a week of admin chaos to sort out and I was reminded just how much medication supports me.

At diagnosis I was mortified to be going on meds but my psychiatrist Dr Shyamal Mashru told me that medication, exercise and coaching are the most helpful tools for ADHD, with exercise being the most important. Down the line I couldn’t agree more.

Someone once said that taking medication can feel like putting on glasses when you didn’t know you couldn’t see and that’s exactly it for me. Another analogy is that an ADHD brain is like a computer with 100 tabs open and medication helps you close the ones you don’t need so you can focus on the one that matters.

Medication doesn’t work for everyone but coaching is wonderful and for me, exercise is non negotiable. I never regret a walk, run, swim or yoga session. Medication has helped me enormously. Coaching has changed my life and now I hold my ADHD diagnosis not with shame but with gratitude, pride and deep understanding.

If you have an ADHD style brain and feel you’d benefit from coaching, I’m here to support you.

Sending all my love,

Sheena x

When life feels busy, the most powerful thing we can do is slow down and nourish our souls (this gorgeous meal with friends did just that) 🌿 The clients I work with aren’t lazy - far from it. ADHDers are often incredibly driven but learning to lead our lives from a place of centred calm changes everything, bringing better focus, better results and more joy.

Joy is something I’m really focused on. I’ve been noticing a general joylessness 😬, so I’m asking you what are you doing for soul nourishment? Singing? Art? Movement? Walking? Yoga? Cooking? Time in nature? Think about what you loved doing as a child for clues. For me it’s always been music, so I joined The Good Vibes Choir in Brighton (they had me at their name 💛). I find myself singing all the way home in the car and into the house every week, so choir has been so good for my soul. Tara Brach talks about control being the opposite of joy, which resonates.

I have space opening for new coaching clients and love helping people to create success from ease and not exhaustion. Thriving from a grounded, centred place takes focus and intention. I know this deeply from experience.

ADHDers often struggle with executive functions like memory, time management, planning, prioritising and emotional regulation. We can be easily distracted (definitely on my school reports 🙄), daydream often and sometimes speak before we think but we’re also truth tellers, deep feelers and wildly creative. Our intuition is extraordinary and daydreaming is a beautiful portal to imagination, insight and wisdom - it just needs a little management and care to keep us grounded.

When we understand how our brains work, we stop fighting ourselves and shift to a place of harmony and that’s when transformation happens.

I feel that my work is about helping you to

✨ Settle your nervous system
✨ Ground and learn about yourself
✨ Lead from calm, not chaos
✨ Hold yourself with compassion (this is a biggie)
✨ Create productivity habits that actually work for you

When we stop pushing from fear, struggle and shame and aim for alignment instead, everything flows.

If this resonates, I’d love to work with you 🫶

I’ve recently done something I’ve wanted to do for years which is that I’ve joined a choir.

Life can pull us in so many directions and for me that’s been moving house over the summer (housewarming flowers from my parents in this photo brought me joy), work and responsibilities in general and before we know it, we’ve stopped doing the things that make us feel like ourselves.

A few weeks ago, after moving to Hove, I joined a local choir. On the first night, standing surrounded by people singing in harmony, I felt really rather emotional. The sound is so beautiful and I’m finding myself looking forward to choir every week. It’s reminded me how vital it is to reconnect with the parts of ourselves which have been quiet for too long. Music was always my thing growing up and it still is, so choir is feeding my soul.

This is something that comes up a lot in coaching and that’s rediscovering what lights us up.
Looking back at what we loved to do when we were younger nourishes the joyful part of us. One client is back playing five a side again, another is painting and I was inspired by a client whose spark seemed to return through singing at her choir. These small acts of self expression and soul nourishment appear to change everything as they bring energy, confidence and connection back into our lives.

So here are two coaching questions for you to ponder on:

🎵 What helps you to come back to yourself?

🎵 When was the last time you allowed yourself to do it?

If you’re feeling the pull to reconnect with your voice in work, life or creativity, I can help you do that and here’s to finding our voices again 🎶

🌿 Sunday Intentions: Dreaming Into This Week

There’s something powerful about Sunday afternoons and evening, which can provide a chance to pause and ground ourselves before the week begins. As a coach, I often talk about the power of intention as a soul led, embodied practice and one which invites clarity, connection and alignment into our lives.

I’ve just taken a little time to do this for myself and it really makes a difference to me. When we begin the week connected to what truly matters to us, we create space for clarity, ease and magic to unfold.

I invite you to take 10 minutes this afternoon or evening to light a candle if it feels good and journal on these questions:

1) ✨ What challenge or emotion would you love to alchemise this week? ✨ Be honest with yourself. Is it overwhelm, frustration, self doubt, people pleasing, procrastination?

2) ✨ What does this challenge look like and feel like in your life right now? ✨

3) ✨ Where does it show up in your body? In your habits? In your energy?

4) ✨ What would the opposite look and feel like to you?

5) ✨ If this challenge transforms, what will your week look like? How will you move, speak, rest and create? What will your energy feel like?

Naming our intentions and visualising what we want can shift everything. We just need to notice, connect and begin from this place of clarity. If this resonates, please do send me an email sheena@detoxhealthbeauty.com if you feel drawn to explore this kind of work more deeply.
Let’s dream into the week with intention and purpose. I really feel that the energy we bring into Monday matters 🫶

Last night, my husband and I went to a wonderful book launch in Brighton with friends. Marina Fernández Julián has written Leading With the Soul and the entire evening was steeped in soul, intuition and deep connection which was exactly the medicine I needed.

Every conversation was a reminder that connection to our soul, inner wisdom and self trust is more important than ever. As we navigate huge shifts in the world and within ourselves, the call to live from the inside out has never felt clearer.

The panel was made up of contributors to the book, including the head teacher of our children’s school. He spoke about humour, intuition and the evolving role of leadership.

West Ham coach Bruno Saltor Grau shared how he coaches through care and connection, nurturing his players’ wellbeing alongside their performance. The importance of his players feeling seen and cared for really landed.

Omar Meza, producer and CEO of DA.TE Danza (a contemporary dance company in Spain), spoke about the power of creative expression and how art can connect, heal and inspire us. He talked about shining a light on overlooked corners of society and using artistic truth to provoke meaningful change.

Francesca Hamptons, Group CFO at Raymond James Wealth & Management, talked about the importance of connection, purpose and aligning our values. She emphasised the need to blend business acumen with humanity and how true fulfilment and genuine engagement generate higher returns.

Sam Thomas, MD of SBT and owner of Firm Balls, reminded us that vulnerability is a strength. When we create safety and lead with honesty and integrity, we invite others to do the same, leading to soul connection.

One nugget that stayed with me was that as we move through the profound transition of AI, tech and everything it brings, we’re not just being asked to adapt, we’re being called to upgrade our mindset.

This is exactly the space I hold in my own coaching and events. As algorithms and automation accelerate, the need for nervous system rest, connection to self and living from our wisdom centres becomes even more essential.

Marina invites us to reclaim the qualities of authenticity, empathy and meaningful connection. A woman after my own heart ❤️

It was such a joy to be in a room full of people choosing integrity, honesty, vulnerability, and intuition over noise, hype, performance and ego. Masks off. We don’t need to keep looking outward for answers. We just need to keep coming back to ourselves.

Connection is everything 🫶

If this resonates with you and you’re feeling called to reconnect with your intuition, nervous system and inner wisdom, I’d love to support you.
