Danielle Woolcott-King Massage Therapy

Danielle Woolcott-King Massage Therapy Stressed? Achy or stiff muscles? In pain? A safe space with stringent measures to follow all Covid-19 guidelines.

Book a bespoke holistic massage from a Jing Trained Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist in a lovely garden treatment room in Hove. I have seen the fantastic effects massage can have on people’s lives, mental health and pain conditions and am passionate about delivering treatments based on the biopsychosocial model of pain – understanding and treating the person as a whole and basing their massage treatment around what they personally need to get out of it. I work with each individual client to work out an outcome-based, 6-week treatment plan to address chronic musculoskeletal pain, pain arising from poor posture and stress-related aches and pains. Knowledge of anatomy helps me to get quickly to the source of the pain and using a fusion of various massage techniques – including fascial work, trigger point therapy, sports stretching and acupressure – I can increase range of movement, decrease pain and lower stress levels.

A safe space. To rest your body and mind. To release your tension. To be able to discuss your pain and how you are living with it.

All are welcome, to allow yourself to let go. To find a listening ear. To accept and receive touch in the way that helps you.

Lie on the table, take deep breaths. Allow your nervous system to settle and know you are in safe and caring hands.

Everybody (and every body!) needs this... Appointments available, DM to see how I can help you.

Headaches do not always start in your head.

Very often they start in the neck.

Tight muscles and trigger points forming in the upper trapezius, suboccipitals and sternocleidomastoid can refer pain into the temples, behind the eyes and across the forehead. It can feel exactly like a tension headache or even trigger migraines.

Long hours at a desk, stress, jaw clenching and constantly looking down at phones all overload these muscles.

The good news is they respond really well to targeted clinical massage and trigger point therapy.

When those muscles release, many clients notice their headaches become less frequent, less intense or disappear altogether.

If headaches are part of your weekly routine, it might be time to look at what your neck is doing.

Busy, busy, busy… sound familiar?

If your life feels non stop, your brain never switches off, and your to do list keeps growing, the most productive thing you can do is pause. Even just for an hour.

Taking time to reset your body and mind can make everything feel less overwhelming. Massage helps calm your nervous system, clear your head, and bring you back into balance so you can step back into your week feeling lighter and more focused.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is to stop for a moment.

Get in touch to book your massage and create that space for yourself.

Some days you just need to get out in nature and walk yourself into a better head space. A grey day but an awesome, 10mile, muddy walk round the Balcombe reservoir and up to the Ouse Viaduct.

Bath for Zeus after wading through some very boggy paths. And bath for me after subjecting my legs to a 10 mile walk 🤣

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend

A massage with me will not feel like a traditional "sports massage". I love slowly, with intention. Focusing on the structures of the soft tissue.

You won't go away feeling like you've done 2 rounds with Mike Tyson. But you will feel like there is space created. That you have more range of movement. That the pain is less.

And also more relaxed and light. Softer.

Working in a holistic way, utilising the biopsychosocial model of pain means I'm treating the person as a whole. With a bespoken treatment based on the conversation we have had about their pain and life.

Appointments available - DM to book.

People are often embarrassed to ask me about treating groin pain. Don't be! It's a common issue and with my clinical massage training I can treat it professionally and effectively.

It's all just anatomy and knowing how to access the muscles that are causing pain and that can be done over the towel. I will talk you through everything I will do when you're on the table and there is no need to feel uncomfortable just because it is a "delicate" area. There is no need to be exposed or worried that I will not want to help.

💥 Don't ignore it if your hands, wrists or elbows are constantly aching - I can help you get out of pain!

I split my time between treating clients and working on a laptop, so I know how quickly this kind of pain builds up and how much it affects daily life.

Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, RSI, texters thumb and more can all be helped with clinical massage. And often the real issue is coming from the neck and shoulders, not just where you feel it.

Add in a nervous system stuck in fight or flight and symptoms can feel even worse.

Target the cause, not just the pain.

Most people arrive to their massage still switched on.

Mind racing. Shoulders up. Breathing shallow. Body in fight or flight.

So I do not start with deep tissue.

I start with Amma compression.

A steady, rhythmic sequence of compressions through the body, over clothing, that gives the nervous system a clear message. You are safe now.

Clients often feel the shift within minutes. Breathing slows. Muscles soften. The mind quietens.

This is what allows the real work to begin.

When your body drops into the parasympathetic state, it can finally move into rest and repair. Treatment becomes more effective, and the results last longer.

It is not just about pressure. It is about timing, rhythm and creating safety in the body. And it also feels amazing.

Every session starts here for a reason.

Neck and shoulder pain is one of the most common things I see in clinic, especially in people dealing with long term stress, desk work and overload.

This lovely review reflects something important. Change does not always have to take months. With the right assessment, targeted clinical massage and nervous system aware, holistic treatment, relief can start early and build over a few sessions.

Many clients arrive in a constant fight or flight state without realising it. When the body begins to feel safe, muscles can relax, movement improves and pain levels often reduce.

If neck and shoulder pain has been hanging around longer than it should, you do not have to just put up with it.

Massage is not just an exercise in relaxation - it can help people cope with stress and those who suffer from anxiety and depression. My peaceful and cosy studio is a nurturing safe place to physically rest and (as a sufferer myself of anxiety and depression) I understand what an individual with these conditions needs and will design a bespoke treatment to support your mental health journey.

Lowering cortisol and increasing serotonin, which massage does, boosts the ability to fight off pain, anxiety and feelings of sadness.

Massage therapy is a great way to cope with stress, and treat anxiety and depression. It can create a sense of relief and empowerment, and allow you to focus on your mind-body connection.
