Danielle Woolcott-King Massage Therapy

Danielle Woolcott-King Massage Therapy Stressed? Achy or stiff muscles? In pain? A safe space with stringent measures to follow all Covid-19 guidelines.

Book a bespoke holistic massage from a Jing Trained Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist in a lovely garden treatment room in Hove. I have seen the fantastic effects massage can have on people’s lives, mental health and pain conditions and am passionate about delivering treatments based on the biopsychosocial model of pain – understanding and treating the person as a whole and basing their massage treatment around what they personally need to get out of it. I work with each individual client to work out an outcome-based, 6-week treatment plan to address chronic musculoskeletal pain, pain arising from poor posture and stress-related aches and pains. Knowledge of anatomy helps me to get quickly to the source of the pain and using a fusion of various massage techniques – including fascial work, trigger point therapy, sports stretching and acupressure – I can increase range of movement, decrease pain and lower stress levels.

If you feel constantly tense, wired or exhausted, it may not be stress alone.

Your nervous system might be stuck in fight or flight.
When the body stays in survival mode for too long, muscles stay guarded, breathing becomes shallow and pain and anxiety can feel louder.

Massage helps regulate the nervous system by creating a sense of safety. When the body feels safe, it can move out of fight or flight and into rest and repair. This is often when people notice their shoulders drop, their breathing slow and their mind finally quieten.
This work is not about fixing you.

It is about supporting your body to feel safe again.

Struggling with Plantar Fasciitis? Let’s talk about how the massage can make a world of difference for your feet! 👣

Plantar fasciitis can leave you feeling like you’re walking on glass, with sharp pain in your heel or arch—especially in the morning. 😣 But don’t worry, I can help! 🌟

I use a targeted approach that uses a combination of deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and therapeutic stretching to address the root causes of your pain. 👐🏼 By focusing on the fascia (the connective tissue around your muscles), I can break down adhesions and tension in the areas around your feet and calves. This encourages healing and helps reduce inflammation.

✨ How does it work?
By applying pressure and working through the layers of soft tissue, the Jing Method helps:
✅ Reduce inflammation and pain
✅ Improve circulation in the feet & calves
✅ Release tightness in the plantar fascia
✅ Restore flexibility to help you move with ease

It’s time to step out of the pain and back into your favorite activities! Book your session today and give your feet the care they deserve.

Massage is not just about muscles, it is about the nervous system.

Many people live in a constant state of fight or flight. When the nervous system is stuck in protection mode, pain feels louder, muscles stay guarded and the body struggles to recover.

When a client feels safe, supported and listened to, the brain reduces its danger signals. This helps regulate the nervous system, allowing the body to move out of fight or flight and into rest and repair. Muscles can then soften and pain can ease.

This is why my approach goes beyond pressure or technique. Using advanced clinical massage and the Jing Method fusion, I work with both the body and the nervous system to support lasting change.
Creating safety first allows real progress to follow.

✨ Best tip ever ✨
One of my regular clients, a 75-year-old absolute legend, brought me homemade marmalade today. At Christmas it was cranberry jam. Honestly, I feel very lucky. 🍊💚

She lives an incredibly active life: plays tennis, walks her dog on the Downs, and comes in monthly for maintenance, usually to keep a stiff shoulder happy and moving.

After working as a physiotherapist for 40 years, she knows her body inside out and often asks for work on very specific muscles. She’s also a big fan of The Jing Method fusion of techniques and tells me she always feels great after her sessions.

A reminder that staying active, listening to your body, and regular maintenance really do make a difference, at any age.

Being a massage therapist is a bit like being a detective! I love using the clues the body gives me to work out the source of pain. 🤔

I work with people in pain using the method to treat them, and generally see a big decrease in pain after 3 treatments.

Massage works!! Trigger point pain patterns are incredible things, these sore spots in muscles cause pain patterns that have all been mapped out. You could feel pain in your shoulder but it's coming from your neck 😯

I love to use Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) in my massage treatments. PNF is a stretching technique that improves flexibility and range of motion (ROM) and this lovely one here does a great job of stretching and strengthen the muscles that externally rotate the hip. When muscles get "tight" that can prevent you from feeling comfortable in your full range of motion and this stretch REALLY helps!

My clients with sciatic pain or tight hips often suffer with nerve pain that runs down the legs as a tight piriformis can press on the sciatic nerve. This stretch is great for creating space in that area and if I've found trigger points in that area then the stretch helps compound the treatment to those too!

You can see me talking my client through a stretch and then a resist cycle

As an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist I love helping people with their chronic pain. Understanding musculoskeletal anatomy and the injuries and pathologies that can occur around these structures help me get to the bottom of where the pain is coming from and treat it specifically.

I use The Jing Method - a fusion of techniques from myofascial release to trigger point therapy to stretching which is proven to help chronic pain over a course of treatments. I studied for this qualification, learnt anatomy, gained an understanding of pain patterns. This is a step up from a stroky spa massage - I have ethe skills and knowledge to increase range of motion and decrease pain.

Why are my shoulders up by my ears?

Stiff neck and shoulders and the rise of the shoulders towards the ears is a common subconscious reaction to stress. The tension that accumulates in the mind often overflows and is stored in the body. It is a common bodily response to store this overflow of tension in the trapezius.

Trigger points (you might think of these as knots - where the muscle develops an irritated spot) in the traps can cause referred headache type pain (see the third slide).

This is probably the most common move I do in my massage treatments, pincer grasp to the upper trapezius. It feels great and helps to ease tension and tightness out of the muscle.

As some of you will know, alongside my massage clinic I work at the best massage school in the UK, . Me and Zeus can often be found there, working on website and social media stuff. Today was our first day back in the office and we did it in true Jing style... Coffee, blankets, meditation, poetry and goal and intentions setting for the year.

It's so amazing to help promote something I truly believe in, the Jing Method of advanced Clinical massage. As my clients would agree - this fusion of massage techniques really works to decrease pain and increase range of movement. Using trigger point therapy, myofascial release, acupressure, sports stretching and knowledge of self care, combined with a holistic and biopsychosocial approach is highly effective. As proven by the vast library of research projects produced at this amazing school. They have really raised the standard of massage therapy in the UK and I'm proud to be part of it.

Suffering from "winter posture"? It's an instinctive reaction to hunch up against the cold. This means you're constantly tensing all those poor neck and shoulder muscles causing stiffness and pain.

A couple of tips - firstly, be mindful and try to notice yourself doing this. Shake out your arms and roll your shoulders.

Wear a scarf!! And finally, of course....come and see me, I'll put the heating on and am always happy to welcome you in out of the cold and straighten you out!
