A Little bit of History.....

Back in 2017 we became Trinity Medical Centre before that the building was known as Holy Trinity Church which closed in 2007.

In 1937 the bell of the church was re-cast by Gillett & Johnston of Croydon. We recently found out the current location of the same bell.

The bell is now at Bundaberg's Christ Church in Australia and arrived to them via the Keltek Trust, a UK charity that re-houses bells that have been removed from towers.

Bundaberg's Christ Church and Bell Tower were constructed in late 1919 and was completed in 1926 and dedicated in February 1927 with the first bell lifted into the Tower in 1935.

In November 2017, the Tower was dedicated as the War Memorial Tower - a thank offering for peace. The five bells installed in the tower in 2018 completed the peal of six bells and were dedicated as The Peace Bells.

The Hove bell was the smallest of the bells acquired and is number 4 in the peal of 6 and is now named "Faithfulness". Below is a picture of the bell before restoration and a video clip of the bells being rung.

Every year the staff at Trinity come together and donate items to the local foodbank. It is a charity that is close to our hearts and something that we have been doing since we first opened in 2017. The need is increasing and we have decided to open it up to patients to give you the opportunity to donate should you want to. We know it has been a tough year for a lot of people and understand that it may not be possible but if anyone would like to join us, any donation will be very much appreciated.

Figures from the city’s Emergency Food Network annual survey reveal a 25% rise in the number of people seeking help from food banks (this is up 9% from the previous year which was already up by 16% from the year before that), social supermarkets and meal projects. More than 6,400 people in the city turned to the network’s members every week over the past year to meet their food needs – with more than 65% of people returning regularly.

We have a very tight deadline this year so if you would like to make a donation to this great charity, please could you bring it in no later than Friday 29th November as the last drop off date for us is Monday 2nd December. Please remember, there is no expectation for anyone to do this but if you can, it is for a great cause locally.

Desired donations:

Pringles
Share bags of crisps
Nuts
Christmas puddings
Mince pies
Christmas cakes / Yule logs / Novelty cake bars & slices
