“Last night in my pregnancy yoga and Hypnobirthing classes we were talking about the role of the birth partner… and honestly it’s such an important conversation.

When we think about birth preparation, we often focus on the pregnant person — but birth partners play a really powerful role during labour.

They’re the person who helps protect the birth space, keep things calm and supportive, and advocate for your wishes if you’re focused on labour.

But many birth partners tell me they feel a bit unsure about what their role actually is, or how they can best help.

That’s why in my workshops we spend time exploring practical ways birth partners can support during labour — things like comfort techniques, helping with positions, and understanding what’s happening during each stage of labour.

Because when birth partners feel confident and informed, it can make a huge difference to how supported someone feels during birth.”

You may have heard Hypnobirthing described as breathing techniques and visualisations — and those things do matter.
But they’re only part of the story.

Think of Hypnobirthing like The Princess and the Pea.

The breathing, relaxation and visualisations are the mattresses.
They support you, soften the experience and help your body relax.

But the pea is fear.
Fear created by social expectations of birth, other people’s stories, and pressure from family, friends or medical professionals.
