How I let the light in!
I went from bullet proof to sofa bound in a weekend. I had a great medical team but, no one could put their finger on what was going on. All I knew was that I could hardly move, hurt everywhere and had a swinging temperature which resulted in horrific night sweats and essentially meant - no sleep. I was eventually diagnosed as having an Auto-inflammatory condition, which is a specific form of arthritis that has systemic effects. Steroids dampened the symptoms massively and then I started taking Methotrexate - the combination of which meant that I could function again. I didn’t feel I did that much wrong - I ate well, exercised, worked hard, but had gotten sick and could not be the husband and dad that I wanted to be. I couldn’t stand the thought of being on longterm medication and knew I would have to take control over everything I could, to put that right.
It’s a journey and there were several things that we changed. Slowly but surely we started moving in the right direction. Then a colleague mentioned red light therapy and I found photobiomodulation. It uses red and near infra-red light to recharge your mitochondria and allow them to function and therefore do what they are mean’t to do. It reduces inflammation and for me critically pain. The systemic benefits are profound and touch so many aspects of life and health because mitochondria are in almost ever cell in your body. For me I stopped aching, especially in the morning and I got back to exercise (which has always been my mental crutch). PBM was my breakthrough and is part of my everyday routine now and that is why I’m so excited about bring it to you all.
