New research has revealed the cost of the UK’s fast food habit – with 60% of people spending up to £50 a week on takeaways and convenience food.

Our survey of 2,000 UK adults showed that 47% of people believe they’d save a significant amount of money by cutting back – yet one in five people don’t feel confident in cooking from scratch 💔. Those that do cook at home report huge benefits though – with 46% saving money and 40% feeling healthier 🤗.

When it comes to Slimming World members, 88% reported spending up to £100 a week on takeaways before they joined. Since joining, the story is totally different with 39% of respondents saying they’ve cut out takeaways completely… by opting for healthy fakeaways instead, they’re saving a potential £5,000 a year 🤯.

Lemon drizzle baked oats/ baked Ready Brek recipe:

Ingredients:
-40g Ready Brek
-2 tsp granulated sweetener
-1 egg
-100g fat free Greek yoghurt
-1 tsp vanilla essence
-Zest of 1 lemon
-Juice of half a lemon: 0.5 tbsp is used in the baked oats, keep the rest aside for serving.

Method:
1) Add the Ready Brek, granulated sweetener, egg, fat free Greek yoghurt, vanilla essence, 2/3 of the lemon zest, 0.5 tbsp of lemon juice to a mixing bowl and mix together until completely combined.
2) Transfer the mixture into a small silicone loaf mould, making sure to spread the mixture evenly across the bottom of the mould.
3)Bake on 180c in an air fryer for 15 minutes.
4)Once baked leave the baked oats to cool for a couple of minutes
5)Using a knife, gently go round the oats in the loaf mould to ease it away from the sides.
6)Transfer the baked oats to a plate or into a bowl, serving it with some fresh fruit for speed and your preferred yoghurt.
7)Drizzle some lemon juice on top of the baked oats
8 )Then finally scatter a few pinches of the lemon zest on top of the baked oats.

This pasta dish is easy-peasy to make and full of fresh flavours ☀️. It’s perfect for those nights when you just want to be out enjoying the sun – and tastes just as good the next day 😉.

Here’s what you need to do to make this Swip-free dish:

1️⃣ Over a medium heat, fry two thinly sliced leeks, 150g sliced shallots and two sliced garlic cloves until soft.
2️⃣ Grate in the zest of one unwaxed lemon, before adding in 150g frozen peas. At this stage you can add in any other veggies you fancy!
3️⃣ Once everything is soft, pop it in a blender with some mint and a little fresh pasta water and blitz it through.
4️⃣ Stir the pasta sauce through some cooked pasta, before serving with a Healthy Extra portion of grated cheese.
5️⃣ Enjoy!
