One of our residents favourite games to play is our word games. These are very simple but get our brains working and engaged. We enjoy shouting out as they pop in our heads!
Today we did word association, thinking of words that remind us of autumn to celebrate the start of the new season.
We also did “words beginning with” where we think of as many words beginning with the chosen letter in a short space of time.
Our residents love to see their hard work as they go on our tv screen, making it interactive! I often ask for help with spelling to further get them thinking (totally not because they give me really hard words) ……

Our residents have been hard at work creating some beautiful collages. We have been looking at Henry Matisse and his collages he did at the end of his life. We’ve had multiple steps in this process that our residents have thrown themselves in to and done a fab job ! Some have kindly donated their works to present in the home and others have theirs up on display in their own rooms!

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our night team based in our lovely 22 bed residential home on Hoylake seafront. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered across three 12 hour shifts per week. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for patients while working in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

Duties

Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
Ensuring the safety of our residents through out the night and dealing with other healthcare professionals where necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols and in-house cleaning records.
Ensuring all care records are updated and legible for each resident at all times.
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, helping to alleviate anxiety or distress.
Assist with feeding and hydration as required, ensuring dietary needs are met.
Participate in online training courses to ensure competence within the role.
Working along side other team members and communicating with all staff to deliver the best quality care.
Experience

Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
A caring and empathetic nature, with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
Basic understanding of health and safety regulations in a healthcare environment is advantageous.

Pay: £12.60 per hour

Introducing Sandtoft Bonus Ball!
We are running this once a month, each number is £2. The winner will receive 70% of the total amount taken and the remaining 30% will go into our activities fund for our residents to enjoy.
We are using the national lottery bonus ball number to determine our winner. This will be the last Wednesday of each month and the winner will be announced via facebook.
If the number drawn has not been bought the 70% of total taken will be rolled over to the next month for a larger winnings.
Anyone is welcome to enter- please message me to do so!

Over the past few weeks we’ve been doing lots of arts and crafts activities- getting creative and working with our hands. Our focus has been on colour and pattern, we’ve done still life of freshly picked flowers, made bunting from collages and done a few types of print making. We’ve really enjoyed making things to put up around the home and are in the process of finding everything a place.
We made pine cone bird feeders using bird seed and peanut butter and have found them empty very quickly- we’re hoping to see lots more birds enjoying the garden 🕊️💗🎨👩‍🎨👨‍🎨🫶🏼⭐️ big thanks to our residents for always being so open and creative- they will have a go at anything and enjoy doing it in their own way 💗

The past few weeks we have been working on our garden and have been busy planting seeds, preparing the garden and filling our greenhouse. We have herbs, vegetables and flowers- including lots of sunflowers.
We are really enjoying watching everything grow and are working on making some planters from recycled materials to transfer them too- we look forward to showing them off soon! 💗🌷🌼🍃🌻🌞🪴🌸🌱🪻
