Happy World Kindness Day!

Today, we want to celebrate one of the driving forces behind our business, our incredible co-founder, Kate.

During the height of Covid, when uncertainty and isolation were everywhere, Kate didn’t just sit back and watch. She wasn't hoarding toilet roll and making TikToks. She used her absolutely mindblowing admin skills to coordinate and mobilise her entire local town to make sure older and vulnerable people were cared for, organising shopping runs, phone check-ins, and community support networks so that no one was left behind.

Frankly, for services to the community, Kate deserves royal recognition but that's not what Kate did it for. She doesn't act kindly for clout, she is just genuinely a beautiful, kind and caring soul.

That same spirit of kindness runs through everything Kate does at Another Mother. Whether it’s supporting her team, going above and beyond for clients, or taking the time to make sure everyone feels valued, that's the Kind Kate effect.

Our business was built on kindness, and it remains at the heart of everything we do. We believe that when people feel genuinely cared for, amazing things happen.

Today, and every day, we’re honouring the power of small acts of kindness. Because a little kindness really does go a long way.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of supporting the SNAC Family Weekend 😊

Art Therapist Patricia and volunteer Cat facilitated a session on creative self care for parent/carers on the theme of 'filling your cup'. Everyone had a booklet, art materials, and a mug to decorate. Lots of brilliant creativity, sharing, laughing, and support in the room. 🙌

Shoutout to every single person who battles through a mental illness everyday of their life. It takes real strength to fight a war inside your head 24/7. Never forget you are strong and you've got this. Keep going.

Ten years ago (sorry I don’t remember!) I painted this as a gift.

The recipient reached out to me to say how she’s treasured it and could I do a similar pot for her terminally ill friend who is turning 50. Of course I can.

Attention patriots

If you've got half an hour to spare and a tin of paint, please don't use it to vandalise road markings. Instead, there are plenty of vulnerable people who could do with a hand decorating their home or community spaces that need graffiti painted over. What a difference you'll make.

If you've got an hour to spare and fancy a walk, please don't attach cheap flags to motorway bridges. Instead protect native flora by taking a walk down your local water way and pulling up some himalayan balsam, or do a litter pick - there'll be plenty of flags blowing around soon, clogging up drains and obstructing the view of drivers as they fall. You'll be doing a real service

If you want people to know that you're patriotic, and you have a few quid to spare, please don't spend it on a poor quality, plastic flag made in China. Instead donate the money to charity or invest in decent quality, British made products and display them on your own home for all to see. How festive it will look (not being sarcastic - i actually love a good flag).

Nobody is stopping us from flying flags, chums.
