The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber cold weather health alert for the North and East of England over the coming days.
During colder weather, itβs really important we all take a few extra steps to look after ourselves and each other:
𧣠Stay warm β keep your home heated where possible, layer up, and try not to sit in cold rooms
π΅ Check on elderly neighbours, friends, and relatives β a quick call or visit can make a big difference
π Make sure you have enough medication β especially over the bank holiday period
πΆ Take extra care with babies, young children, and those with long-term health conditions
π If you need medical advice while we are closed on New Yearβs Day, please:
β’ Call NHS 111 if you need a GPβs assistance
β’ Use the Pharmacy First service for advice and treatment for minor illnesses
β’ In a medical emergency, always call 999
