🛑 Meningitis Outbreak, patient information 🛑

We understand some patients are feeling worried following recent news about a meningitis outbreak.

We’d like to reassure you that this outbreak is being managed locally in Kent, and there is currently no national guidance for GP practices to offer additional vaccinations outside of the routine schedule.

The Men B vaccine has been part of the UK childhood vaccination programme since 2015, given to babies at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 12 months.

👉 This means:
• Children currently aged around 10–11 and under are likely to have already been vaccinated
• Older children and adults would not have been routinely eligible

At present, we are not offering additional Men B vaccinations at the practice.

If you feel you or your child may be at risk or are particularly concerned, please speak to a healthcare professional for advice.

If anyone would like to access the Men B vaccination as they have never been eligible then you would need to access this privately from a pharmacy.

💙 As always, if anyone becomes unwell or you are concerned about symptoms, please seek medical advice promptly.

Our surgery will be closed from 1:00 pm this afternoon Tuesday 17th March for staff training.
This training helps our team stay up to date so we can continue to provide safe, high-quality care to all our patients.

We will reopen as normal the following morning.

For urgent medical advice while we are closed, please contact NHS 111 or 999 in an emergency.

👋 Meet the Team – Our GP Partners

Say hello to the GP Partners who lead Colne Valley Group Practice which includes The Globe and Marsden Health Centre:

⭐ Dr Graham Crippin
⭐ Dr Andy Storr
⭐ Dr Rebecca Hoddinott

As GP Partners, they help lead and shape the running of the whole practice, making important decisions about how services are delivered and how we care for our patients and community.

Alongside this leadership role, they are also part of our day-to-day clinical team., so you are still likely to see them in clinics, and working as the on-call GP alongside the rest of the team.

We’re also proud to be a teaching practice, with our GP Partners helping to train and support GP trainees and junior doctors during their placements with us.

Basically… they keep the practice running, look after our patients, and help train the next generation of doctors too. No pressure! 😉

We’re incredibly lucky to work along side them 😃👏

📢 Mobile Cervical Screening Unit Coming to Kirklees!

A mobile screening unit will be visiting community locations across Kirklees over the coming weeks. If you’re aged 25–64 and have a cervix, you can drop in if you’ve:

✔ received a screening invitation
✔ missed a previous appointment
✔ think you may be overdue

✅ No appointment needed – just drop in. The test itself takes less than 5 minutes, and the whole visit is usually around 10 minutes in a safe, private and comfortable space. You’re welcome to bring a friend, family member or chaperone if that helps you feel more at ease. Cervical screening helps prevent cervical cancer by spotting changes early.

👍Here is when the screening unit will be in Huddersfield:

👉 Monday 30 March, 1.30pm - 4.30pm at Accu Football Stadium, Stadium Way, Huddersfield HD1 6PG.

👉 Monday 13 April, 9.30am – 12.30pm at Jubilee Centre, Market Street, Paddock, Huddersfield HD1 4SH.

👉 Monday 13 April, 1.30pm – 4pm at Chestnut Centre, 2A Chestnut Street, Huddersfield HD2 1HJ.
