Skelmanthorpe Family Doctors Our aim is to provide great care and services, with patients needs at the heart of everything we do.

We have a limited number of urgent on‑the‑day appointments, so please call the surgery between 08:00-08:30am. Routine GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and Pharmacist appointments can be booked online. If you need access to online services, please visit the surgery and we will arrange this for you.

We have been made aware that cases of scarlet fever are currently being reported locally.

If you or your child develops symptoms of scarlet fever, please contact your GP or NHS 111 for advice - do not just turn up at the surgery due to the possible risk of spreading infection.

The Locala drop‑in clinic for baby weighing is now held at Shepley Health Centre on Tuesdays, 09:00–11:30.

BEWARE WINTER FUEL PAYMENT SCAMS!

This winter 2025 /2026 everyone who was born before 22nd September 1959 should receive a Winter Fuel Payment.

The Winter Fuel Payment is AUTOMATICALLY paid into the same bank account as your state pension.

You do NOT need to apply for the Winter Fuel Payment.

Most people will receive the payment sometime in November or December 2025.

If you receive a text, email or phone call inviting you to apply for, or process your claim for the Winter Fuel Payment DO NOT OPEN ANY LINKS OR RESPOND IN ANY WAY. The government will NOT contact you about this by text, nor will they ask for any of your details by phone, text or email.

If you wish to report a suspicious message, forward it to 7726 (it’s free of charge) and delete it immediately.

If you are over state pension age but do not receive the Winter Fuel Payment by the end of January 2026 you can contact DWP to check.

If you do not get state pension or any other DWP benefits you may need to apply. Please contact Carers Count to ask for advice and help if you need it.

NOTICE OF INTERNAL MAINTAINANCE AND REPAIR WORK TO THE RECEPTION AREA AT SKELMANTHORPE FAMILY DOCTORS

WORK IS PLANNED TO BEGIN ON 17TH NOVEMBER TO REPAIR DRAINS AND REPLACE FLOORING TO THE RECEPTION AREA AT SKELMANTHORPE SURGERY. THIS WILL CAUSE MAJOR DISRUPTION AND WILL AFFECT OUR STAFF. WE ASK THAT YOU BEAR WITH US WHILST THIS WORK IS UNDERWAY.

THERE WILL ALSO BE OTHER PARTS OF THE SURGERY THAT WILL BE REPAINTED FOLLOWING THE RECENT ROOFWORKS. THIS WILL BE COMPLETED OUT OF BUSINESS HOURS SO AS TO CAUSE MINIMAL DISRUPTION TO OUR PATIENTS.

We are now a trained provider of the C-Card Scheme! To register just pop into the Surgery at Skelmanthorpe and ask for the C-Card staff member at reception. This service is offered in a discreet, confidential manner.

The C-Card Scheme is a free and confidential service for young people aged 13-24 living in Bradford, Kirklees, Stockport, Tameside, Wigan and Leigh. Once you register for a C-Card you will have access to free condoms, femidoms, dams, l**e and pregnancy tests.
