Technology is truly amazing! I brought in my tablet after I stumbled upon something that I thought might be of great interest for our residents, and I'm so glad I did! It was the digital version of colouring by numbers, which I had never seen before, but I was curious to see how our residents would react to it. I introduced it to a couple of our residents on the Butterfly Unit, and they were absolutely amazed by it. Their faces lit up as they started exploring the different colours and patterns, and I could see the excitement in their eyes. One of them even asked if they could do more, which was wonderful to see! It's moments like these that remind me of the power of technology to bring joy and engagement to our residents' lives. I'm already thinking of other ways we can use this digital colouring tool to stimulate their creativity and imagination. 📱🎨

Some of our residents enjoyed a fun afternoon playing Dominoes. It is lovely to see the residents enjoying themselves and still being able to take part in this social game.Some of our residents had an absolute blast enjoying a fun-filled afternoon playing Dominoes, laughing and chatting with each other as they tried to outmaneuver their opponents. It's truly heartwarming to see the residents enjoying themselves and still being able to take part in this social game, which not only brings them joy but also helps to keep their minds sharp and active. The excitement was palpable as they carefully placed each tile, trying to make the perfect match, and the sense of camaraderie was undeniable as they cheered each other on and shared in the thrill of victory.

Many of you will have seen our amazing artwork in the foyer of our home, which has become a stunning focal point that showcases the creativity and talent of our residents. They spent many hours pouring their hearts into colouring the intricate A4 design, and as a result, we had many beautiful pieces left over. Not wanting to let their hard work go to waste, we decided to take it to the next level by laminating these masterpieces and then adding them to hardboard, finishing them off with plastic wallets. And now, we're thrilled to announce that we have vibrant Activity Stations on the 1st floor and Butterfly unit, bringing joy and excitement to our residents' daily lives. The ground floor will get its own soon, and we can't wait to see the smiles on our residents' faces when they see the finished result! 🎨👏

Last week, on one of our exciting arts and craft sessions, we embarked on a brand new project for Arts in Care Homes on September 24th. Previously, some of our talented residents had coloured in some beautiful Mdf birds, and I thought, why not use these pieces and incorporate them into some stunning hanging mobiles? It's going to be a fantastic way to showcase their artwork and add some visual interest to the care home. This is very much a work in progress, and we're still in the experimental phase, but we're loving the direction it's taking. We're looking forward to showing you the end results soon, and we can't wait to hear your thoughts on our latest project! 🎨💡

So, a few weeks ago, I convinced the residents to join me in the courtyard for a super fun (and slightly messy) afternoon of making cement planters. They got to cut up towels into weird shapes, soak them in cement, and then... wait for it... watch them transform into... well, not planters anymore! Plans changed, and now they're going to be used for something entirely different. Stay tuned for the epic reveal! 😂

So far this week, it has been a wonderful one at our care home, filled with a variety of activities that brought joy to our residents. We had reminiscence sessions using smell, where we delved into the past and shared stories, sparking conversations and laughter. Our 1+1's were also a hit, providing an opportunity for our residents to talk and build meaningful relationships. And of course, who can forget our singalongs? These always bring a smile to our residents' faces, and it's heartwarming to see our dementia patients joining in, tapping their feet, and singing along to their favorite tunes. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the exceptional businesses and individuals who generously donated prizes to our Summer Fayre. Special thanks to Ann Wear and her Hathor Dances, as well as all the talented bakers, cooks, and volunteers who contributed their time and efforts to the event. Unfortunately, we were unable to capture more photographs due to the demands of the day. We are thrilled to report that all Grand Raffle prizes were claimed, along with the Name The Lemur. The total amount raised at the Summer Fayre was an impressive £484.65.

On Thursday morning, our residents were in for a real treat as Amanda from Singalong Days came to entertain them with her energetic and lively performance. Everyone was invited to join in on the fun, and those who wanted to attend gathered at the 1st floor lounge, eagerly awaiting the entertainment. Amanda performed a range of well-known songs that got everyone's toes tapping and soon had everyone singing along in unison. Her infectious energy was palpable, and it was a truly wonderful sight to see the smiles on everyone's faces as they let loose and enjoyed themselves. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and chatter filling the air as our residents forgot their worries and simply had a great time. It was a fantastic way to start the day, and we're so grateful to Amanda for bringing such joy and excitement to our community.

A couple of months ago, we embarked on an exciting project with our residents, challenging them to unleash their creativity and colour a stunning crown. The task was not only a fun activity but also an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills. One of the crowns was chosen to be featured on the front of a special card that we sent to His Royal Highness, King Charles III, to wish him a happy birthday. Jean's was thrilled to have her beautiful picture chosen for this honour, and she was over the moon when she found out the news! Last week, we received a reply that we never expected - a letter from Buckingham Palace itself! Jean was the first to lay eyes on the letter and was beaming with pride as she had her picture taken with it. The excitement didn't stop there, as other residents also got to see the letter and take photos with it, creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved. It was a truly regal experience that we will always treasure! 🎉📸
