Today I delivered a workshop on Health Inequalities as part of University of Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator.
This is more than work to me. Itβs about values, (especially fairness) and lived experience.
I shared how we now have an economic case to act to reduce inequalities β€οΈ.
300,000 people per year are leaving the workforce due to ill health. This is presenting a problem for productivity, recruitment and ultimately, bottom lines.
The exciting thing is the evidence is clear; we can do something about it - if we chose to πͺ. Especially those of us that run businesses, employ staff or are in leadership roles.
I shared some tips on what businesses can do to make a difference, benefitting staff and their bottom lines. Itβs not as hard as you would think.
Although it can be a tough topic, we made sure we had time for fun. Delegates made a pledge on what they are going to do to make a difference.
If you have a high proportion of staff on lower incomes, we should have a chat about how I can save you money by looking after them.
If you have staff on higher incomes, we should have a chat about how I can help you reach ESG and corporate wellbeing goals.
