Neurodevelopmental therapy: Primitive Reflex Integration, Safe & Sound Protocol & The Listening Program Provider getting to the root cause of challenges
brain & body boost is based in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, helping both children and adults to overcome learning, sensory, emotional and behavioural challenges. I can help with many challenges including autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, concentration, attention and focus, and general delays in reading & writing through Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi) and also the Safe & Sound Protocol. RMTi addresses retained primitive reflexes which impact on everyday life and ability to learn with commonly reported benefits being: improved: co-ordination, concentration, academic ability and progress, handwriting, speech and language, reading and mathematics, emotional stability, ability to sit still, forward planning, reduction of anxiety, anger and depression, and improved energy levels. Everyday tasks become easier leading to improved self confidence and a happier home / school / work life.
“When reflexes integrate they form vital neurological connections that underscore every thought, movement, and behaviour therefore retained reflexes can impact normal tasks we take for granted....”
“.....the stress and hopelessness felt by the individual who struggles to cope with an unintegrated reflex system can be overwhelming – the benefits of getting the system ‘back in tune’ are immeasurable.....”
“Primitive reflexes and the level of their integration determine our quality of life - from our ability to move freely to our level of cognition. Matured reflex connections allow us to accomplish tasks with ease and without undue stress. They allow us to reach our potential and experience happiness. When our primitive reflexes are matured or fully integrated, one will typically think clearly, have the ability to behave appropriately, and move smoothly. When one or more reflexes fail to mature or integrate and work synergistically with the nervous system, neurological conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, `cerebral palsy, or ADHD may exist. Immature reflexes can be found in numerous neurological conditions which will benefit from integration techniques....”

Whilst the Safe & Sound Protocol helps us to feel more safe in our world alloings us to socially engage and therefore engage with learning and also benefit more from other therapies - other benefits seen with the Safe & Sound Protocol include improved auditory processing, reduced sensitivity to sound, improved attention and focus, reduced social stress, and can help with anxiety and trauma related challenges. Based on Dr Porges’ Polyvagal theory, there is no other auditory programme like it. The three pathways through the protocol enable a highly personalised experience ensuring that appropriate route can be taken for each individual.

👶 Babies need to be given the time and space to practise the movement patterns - on the front, back and sides of the body - and to be allowed to make the effort required to organise these patterns and go through all the developmental stages.

🌱 Disorganized body movements often correlate with disorganized emotions and thoughts.
✨ RMTi's exact movements teach your body to move from a state of disorganization to a state of connected flow.
🧘♀️When we build a strong foundation of postural control through movement and sensory processing, we also lay the groundwork for better emotional regulation, impulse control, and judgment.
🪴 It’s a holistic approach that connects your body, mind, and emotions.

👣 Fidgeting and wriggling are natural behaviors for children!
🪑Their brains are still developing the ability to be still and focus. In fact, a child's attention span is much shorter than an adult's, and it's simply not reasonable to expect them to sit still for long periods.
🧠 These movements are how their brains build and refine neural pathways from the bottom up.
🏃 By allowing for free movement, we're giving children the opportunity to build the stability and organization they need for higher-level functions later in life.

🧠 A developing brain can't truly multitask!
✨ The ability to do something automatically while focusing on another task takes time to develop. It requires refined, organized movements that free up the brain for other activities.
👂 So, the next time you think a child isn't listening, remember that they might simply be dedicating all their brainpower to the task at hand.
🌱 Give them the time and space to focus!

🗣️ Ever felt overwhelmed by too much stimulation?
💫 For an immature or sensitive system, even simple movements can be overwhelming.
💪 The RMTi principle is that a stressed system does not get stronger. This is why we work WITH a person, not ON them.
✨ We start with what's comfortable and build from there, respecting their resources and needs.
🌀 This gentle, non-judgmental approach ensures that progress is long-lasting and effective, avoiding the stress that can come from pushing too hard, too fast.

🧠 Many of these behaviors, often assigned labels, are not a medical condition but an immaturity of the brain.
👣 It's natural for children to be active and fidget—their brains are still building the foundational skills needed for focus.
🌱 Our society's push for stillness and early screen time can hinder this essential neural development.
🏃♂️Let's reframe how we see these challenges and support our children's natural need for movement.

🚫 Ever wondered why some people seem more easily startled or anxious? If you feel like you’re always on edge or are easily triggered, this could be a sign!
👶 The Moro Reflex, a natural infant response, plays a role!
➡️ When this early reflex doesn't fully integrate, it can affect our nervous system's regulation. Intrigued?

Whether creating these links in the first place or re-establishing them later in life, it all boils down to returning to the root of any disruptions and rebuilding that foundation. This process enables individuals to learn attention, understand the world, foster relationships, and feel secure while navigating life's intricate pathways.
