Our physiotherapists

1967-2014
It is with terrible sadness that we must share the news that Alison has passed away, yet it is also a privilege to have shared in her all too short life and to be able to share this brief outline of some of Alison's many achievements. Whether she was treating clients at Pennine Physiotherapy, raising funds for her children's school, or exploring the Colne Valley and beyond on horseback or mountain bike, Alison always had a smile for everyone whose lives she touched. Alison qualified at Leeds Metropolitan University in 1994. She worked both in the NHS and private practice, including attending the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games as physiotherapist to the Great Britain Cycling Team. Not that you would have heard this from Alison herself - she was as modest as she was talented. Alison was herself a champion cyclist at the highest level, winning the gruelling 3 Peaks cyclocross race in both 1993 and 1994, as well as being a passionate lifelong equestrian. Alison passed away peacefully on 19th June 2014 in Kirkwood Hospice. Karen Hellawell MCSP
Karen qualified at Bradford School of Physiotherapy in 1990. She has worked both in the NHS and private practice, including more than ten years experience working with Rugby League players. She was physiotherapist to Huddersfield Giants Rugby Club for nine years and has toured with national squads. Aideen Farrell PGdip BSc(hons) MSCP
Aideen qualified as a Sports Rehabilitation specialist in 2006 and worked in private clinics in Ireland, South Africa and Australia. She then pursued her study further and gained her chartered physiotherapy title from the University of Huddersfield in 2012. Since then she has worked on Orthopaedic wards and Outpatients with private and NHS patients She has a special interest in running injuries and post surgical rehabilitation. She also gives an excellent Sports Massage! Treatment
Your first appointment will involve a thorough examination to diagnose your problem followed by an initial treatment. We will then agree a treatment plan with you. How long rehabilitation takes varies with each person and condition. However, as part of your treatment we will show you exercises that you can perform at home to help your recovery and reduce the amount of treatment you need.

***Coronavirus Update***

Due to recent guidelines (from government and Physiotherapy professional bodies) we have decided to temporarily close our practice, with immediate effect, in the interest of the health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, ourselves and our families.

This is a very challenging time for us all and we must all act responsibly and play our part in support of the wider effort to manage the threat of coronavirus, so that the nation may return to normality sooner.

As healthcare professionals we are also aware of the role we can play in limiting the burden on the already stretched NHS resources.

If you are struggling with acute pain and your next port of call is your GP or A&E, please call us first.

We can offer a triage service that can help you determine your best option for treatment. We can provide advice and, if suitable, will use technology like FaceTime or Skype to facilitate remote consultations and discuss treatment and exercises that will help you.

Each case is individual and there is no one answer that fits all, but we will be as flexible as we can be to help where we can.

Please contact us on 843455 or 07803051986

Thank you for your support and understanding at this time.

Take care everybody!
