Our team here at Longroyds & Pilling House Care Home-Hill Care are currently working hard through the Veteran Friendly Framework to become accredited as a Veteran Friendly care home. This will support us in honoring & meeting the needs of our veterans with a more person centred approach. We will also be working with local and national charities supporting not only the veterans we take care of every day but the veterans within our community. 🇬🇧

For Christmas Neil received a brand new bread maker🎁. Neil used to make and decorate lots of beautiful cakes including wedding cakes. He also made lots of bread at home for his family. Neil told us bread became a lot of hard work but the machines are brilliant and you still get that beautiful smell of fresh bread cooking. ❤️

Neil invited some of our ladeis & gents to join him making some cheddar & sundried tomato bread recently🧀🍅. We all enjoyed chatting with Neil as he talked us through the process of making bread. The smell of the bread cooking was a big talking point for our other ladies & gents, staff & visitor. Of course there was quite a queue for tasting! Jean said Neil is the top man! Well done Neil your bread went down a treat!🍞

We would like to say a big thank you to the ladies and gents at Skelmanthorpe Methodist chapel for their incredibly warm welcome as we attended their coffee morning recently. What better way to start a Saturday than with a bacon butty or some homemade cake and a catch up with friends old & new🍰☕️. Henry couldn't get enough of the delicious cake i think he managed to squeeze in a third piece! Sandra said she had a lovely morning chatting with people she hadn't seen for years😍. What a lovely morning!

We were thrilled to welcome Theresa back to our home recently as we celebrated Burns night.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Theresa started by explaining a bit of history behind the Burns night celebrations. She then went on to explain how to build the bagpipes, the difference in the tenor and bass drones, the blow pipe and the chanter. We learned that the chanter makes the tunes!🎵🎶 Theresa went on to play some amazing Scottish tunes on her bag pipes including a beautiful Scottish lullaby. Thank you again for coming Theresa we had a lovely afternoon!😍

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome back Debbie & Graham with their beautiful African grey parrot Choko but this time Chocko brought along his friend Mr Raffles to meet us too. We had a fabulous morning chatting with Debbie & Graham and listening to some of the stories they had to tell especially about the mischievous Mr Raffles🤭. Chocko & Mr Raffles both enjoyed a spot of music and a bit of dancing🎶. We even managed to hear Mr Raffles talking. We had an amazing time thank you again for coming along. We can't wait to see you again soon! 😍

Winnie-the-Pooh turns 100🎉!! To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of A.A Milne's first publication of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories we had a great week starting with a chat about the story behind Winnie-the-pooh and where the stories came from followed by the film Goodbye Christopher Robin. We then tried our hand at some honeycomb printing (after all it was his favourite treat!) Enid quickly fell in love with her giant Winnie-the-pooh bear who was kindly donated by one of our lovely family members!😍

To finish the week we were excited to welcome Alan to join us and talk to us about his honey bees which he has re homed on the grounds here at Longroyds & Pilling house. He talked to all about how he started as a bee keeper. He brought us some beeswax so we can have a go at making our own lip balm and we even got to sample some of his delicious honey. 🐝🍯

Alan is going to work with us throughout the year and help us to provide a nurturing space for his honey bees. We can't wait to get stuck in!

We would just like to say a huge thank you to National Activity Providers Association for the invitation to join them, along with some of our sister homes, in Liverpool receny as we celebrate the 2026. It was lovely to meet everyone and we had a fantastic day getting involved and planning some new fabulous activities for our residents to get involved with. 😍

We tried our hand at some caramel shortbread recently as we marked . What's better than home made shortbread, caramel & chocolate!🍫
Seems like Mavis agreed!! she couldn't wait to test the condensed milk when while we waited for the caramel to cool. Just look at that cheeky grin! 🥰
