Diabetes affects more than just blood sugar. It can damage circulation, reduce sensation and increase the risk of foot complications.

At our clinic, we carry out a full diabetic foot check. We examine skin, assess circulation using a Doppler, and test nerve sensation.

If you live with diabetes, don’t wait until there’s pain or a problem. A foot check now could make a big difference.

Myth: “Vinegar can cure fungal nails or athlete’s foot.”

Truth: Vinegar is not fungicidal. It may make the skin less hospitable, but it won’t kill the fungus or stop reinfection from shoes and socks.

Do you have vinegar in your cupboard? Leave it for your chips!
Vinegar won’t cure fungal infections. You need proper antifungal treatments, ideally recommended by your podiatrist or pharmacist.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month.

Your feet might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to diabetes, but they should be on your checklist.
Diabetes can affect circulation, nerve sensation, skin condition and healing, all of which can increase the risk of serious foot problems.

At Round House Podiatry, we offer diabetic foot checks that include:
✔️ Pulse and circulation assessment (using Doppler)
✔️ Sensory testing to detect early nerve changes
✔️ Skin, nail and joint health review
✔️ Personalised advice to keep your feet healthy year-round

Prevention is key. If you live with diabetes, an annual foot check could make all the difference.

Autumn is well and truly here but is your footwear ready?

As the weather turns colder and wetter, now’s the time for something warmer, drier and supportive.

Our top seasonal footcare tips:
✔️ Choose waterproof shoes with good grip
✔️ Don’t forget to moisturise; cold weather dries out the skin
✔️ Check for pressure points or rubbing as you break in boots

Need advice on choosing the right footwear for autumn walks or winter weather? We’re happy to help.

The clocks go back this Sunday!

That means an extra hour in bed (or an extra hour to take care of your feet! 👣)

As the days get shorter and the weather cooler, now’s a great time to:
✔️ Check in on any niggles you've been ignoring
✔️ Book your winter foot check
✔️ Treat dry heels or thick toenails before they get worse

Use that extra hour to give your feet a little TLC 🤍

Thinking of treating fungal nails at home?

Make sure you’re using something that actually kills the fungus. Many over-the-counter products don’t contain fungicidal ingredients.

🔍 Look for Amorolfine (a fungicidal agent – prescription only).
🧽 File down thick or crumbly nails before applying treatment.
🧦 Don’t forget to treat socks, shoes and skin too. Athlete’s foot often goes hand-in-hand with fungal nails.

If you need help reducing thick nails, we’ve got you covered. https://roundhousepodiatry.com/fungal-nail-infections/how-to-treat-fungal-nails/

Topical or Oral?

Which fungal nail treatment is right for you?

There’s no single answer; it depends on how severe the infection is and how much of the nail is affected.

👣 Mild cases with normal-thickness nails may respond to topical lacquers.
👣 Thicker, widespread infections often need a mix of topical + oral medications and regular nail reduction.

Not sure what you need? We’ll assess your nails and build a plan that works for you.
