🌸🍰 Flour, flowers & friendship at Aden Lodge!

Residents had a wonderful afternoon getting creative and hands-on with some fun and meaningful activities 💙

🎨 Dot and Mabel coloured beautiful forget-me-not flowers to decorate our tea trolley sign—such a lovely job, ladies!

🥄 Then it was time to bake! Dot, Mabel and Olive rolled up their sleeves to make delicious plain and fruit scones. Olive especially enjoyed mixing in the fruit and cutting out the dough. What a team! 👏

Once baked and cooled, the scones took pride of place on the tea trolley—and the reactions were priceless!

🛏️ Keith tucked into his in his room with a visit from his daughter—and loved it so much, he asked for seconds!

Safe to say… baking scones is back on the menu for June! 😄

To celebrate Caribbean Month, our wonderful cook Maria brought a taste of the tropics to Aden Lodge with a delicious themed lunch for our residents.

Everyone tucked into a vibrant feast of jerk chicken with rice and kidney beans, naan bread, and a refreshing cucumber and mint dip. Our vegetarian residents enjoyed the same flavours with Quorn chicken—and every plate was full of flavour and colour!

For dessert, Maria served up rice pudding pots delicately spiced with cinnamon, followed by a gorgeous ginger cake in the afternoon. Pat especially enjoyed the treat while spending quality time with her mum Olive.

A big well done to Maria for making the day extra special with such thoughtful and tasty cooking! 👏👏

🌼 Dot’s Marigold's! 🌼

There’s nothing quite like getting your hands in the soil and bringing a little colour to the garden!

Dot spent a lovely afternoon potting up some beautiful marigolds she personally picked out during a recent trip to the garden centre with her son, Jez. 💛

She was absolutely delighted—and as you can see, her smile says it all 😁

Moments like these remind us how meaningful the simple pleasures in life can be 🌿

🧠✨ A trip down memory lane at Aden Lodge Care Home!

Thanks to a wonderful Memory Box from Kirklees Library, our residents spent a joyful afternoon reminiscing and sharing stories sparked by some nostalgic treasures 💫

From a Salvation Army bus, vintage dolls, and a classic Sooty advert to a Rubik’s Cube, Beano Annual, memory cards, and even a game of noughts and crosses—there was something for everyone!

🎨 Mabel loved the noughts and crosses
📖 Jill was drawn to the dolls
🧩 Thelma enjoyed the memory cards
🧠 Margaret couldn’t put down the Rubik’s Cube
🗣️ Keith joined in the fun with fellow residents

These wonderful items sparked chat and laughter about Sooty, Bill and Ben, Muffin the Mule, Pinky and Perky, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo (we even sang the theme song!), and Lassie 🐶

It was a lovely afternoon full of conversation, connection, and plenty of smiles 😄

☀️🎯 Boules, sunshine, and smiles!

Maureen, Eileen, Dot, and Mabel enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Aden Lodge Care Home, soaking up the sunshine and getting competitive with a game of boules! 🌼

As always, the best part was the wonderful conversation—these ladies love a good chat about all sorts while they play. It's moments like these that bring joy, laughter, and lasting friendship.

🎨🧩 Colour, laughter, and a little friendly competition!

Glyn, Eunice, and Maggie spent a lovely afternoon at Aden Lodge getting creative with colouring. Afterwards, Maggie challenged our Activities Coordinator Janice to a lively game of Jenga—and we’re not saying who won! 😉

It’s these everyday moments of connection, fun, and friendship that make life at our homes so special.

🧶✨ Nothing like a good chat and a few stitches to brighten the day!

Mabel and Dot had a lovely time getting creative during our knitting session at Aden Lodge Care Home. With tea, laughter, and plenty of wool, it was a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Here at Aden Lodge we have the hairdresser visit every two weeks, and our residents look forward to it. 💇‍♀️

Eunice, Joan and Dots hair all look lovely after a trim and style, wouldn't you agree? 👩‍🦳

Our ladies and gents enjoyed a manicure! 💅🏻

I soaked and cleaned their nails, then cut and filed them.
The ladies had a choice of colours for theirs to be painted and chose pastel pinks which all looked lovely.

Everyone loves being pampered!

Last week we celebrated St. Patrick's Day ins style with our residents! 🇮🇪

We decorated the home with Irish decorations and our cook, Maria, made a beautiful Guinness cake which was enjoyed by all. 🍀

Our residents then had a choice of a Baileys Irish cream, or a small Guinness
while we listened to Irish music Daniel o Donnell, and James Galway in the loungue, and the residents sang along. 🎶
