Be careful in hot weather. Here are a few tips to help keep your home cool:

☀️ Close blinds and curtains on windows that are exposed to direct sunlight, move to the coolest part of your home and open windows (if it is safe to) when the air feels cooler outside than inside

☀️ A cool living space is especially important for infants, older people or those with long-term health conditions

☀️ Use electric fans if the temperature is below 35°C, but do not aim the fan directly at the body

☀️ Go outside if it is cooler in the shade

Here are some tips to stay well in hot weather:

☀️ Stay out of direct sunshine, especially between 11am and 3pm, as UV rays are strongest during these hours

☀️ If you’re going out during these times walk in the shade, apply sunscreen, wear a hat, sunglasses and light, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothes

We’re incredibly proud of our Paediatric Epilepsy Service and the dedication of our Epilepsy Specialist Nurse, Lin Mar.

Lin’s leadership across the service has resulted in 98% of newly diagnosed paediatric epilepsy patients being seen by a specialist nurse within 12 months, more than 10% higher than the national average.

Lin’s compassion, dedication and leadership continue to make a real difference to children, young people and their families every day.

We’re sending our very best wishes to two much-loved colleagues who have retired after almost 85 years of combined service at CHFT. 💐

Judith Croft worked for 52 years in Trauma and Orthopaedics, and Sharon left us after nearly 32 years in the Care of the Patient at Home Team.

Thank you both for your kindness and the difference you have made to our patients, families and colleagues over so many years. Enjoy your well-earned retirements.
