💗 You were born as love... 💗

Before the world told you who to be…
Before the pressure, the need to perform, the need to prove you are loveable...

When you were born, your nervous system knew safety in connection.
Your brain wired itself through warmth, eye contact and soft touch.

In life some of that can get lost along the way...and we find ways to adapt and change to ultimately feel loved, connected and safe.

But we don’t heal by becoming someone new.
We heal by remembering who we were before the world taught us otherwise...
Before survival mode kicked in.

When your brain and nervous system feel safe, we choose to live from LOVE not fear.
And when we choose from love, everything changes...

All of this is possible for you, we can teach your body and brain that it is safe to feel, safe to be seen and safe to be loved.

💗 It’s a day that celebrates love out there, so what if you could spend today remembering you were born as LOVE and you deserve to allow yourself to feel LOVED 💗

What a powerful quote that I heard from at the creative health exchange event today in Bradford! Ruth is an artist and creative practitioner and she has vibes!

So many inspirational speakers today and connections with people I've met before and people I feel like I was supposed to meet.

I feel more and more that my research world and my therapy world are aligning but I have to remember that this is not a coincidence. This is because although I wear different hats, it is the same brain underneath them and my overarching mission is to make a difference. I am spending this year working on just that regardless of which hat I've got on!

Being surrounded by a room of creatives that share the same energy and really CARE keeps that fire alive. Roll on day two tomorrow! 🔥🎨

🙌🤣 "Didn't realise I would be able to have a laugh or experience joy...I thought I'd just be talking about all my problems..." 🤣🙌

There is something so beautiful about seeing people who might be going through their worst time being able to smile more, laugh, and experience joy.

I watch people over the weeks and they genuinely glow as they become who they truly are when they are no longer using their energy to just survive.

When we come out of survival mode we have more capacity for the good things too.

We feel more content in expressing who we are.

And the energy that comes with that is contagious...✨️

Of course I bring a listening ear and sensitivity to the therapy space (online or in person) but I also bring lightness, joy and the power of mirror neurons kick in...we are in this together for it all ✨️

It is a true joy to guide people home to themselves having walked that path too...🦋

🦋❓️You don't know what you've got until it's gone...❓️🦋

Unless you have solution focused hypnotherapy where you train your brain to notice what you already have right now...

The good bits, even if life feels tough.

And that is not because we believe that life is all sunshine and rainbows ☀️🌈

It is because neuroscience tells us that when we notice the good, it allows us to operate more from the front part of the brain where we thrive, rather than the survival part of the brain that can keep us stuck.

You still have feelings.

You are still a human.

And you deserve to notice those joys!

➡️ Even if you are not seeking to have this therapy, you can still start to make these shifts.

✨️ Perhaps you could allow yourself to notice 3 good things each day this week (glimmers), even if they are super small! See how this shifts your focus (and your brain) 🧠

I must admit I am pretty chuffed with that - it sums up everything I aim to do with my clients and everything I love about this work!

I like to think it is also pretty aligned with my academic research work as a mentor, supervisor, and manager and I was actually recently highly commended as being an inspirational mentor as part of a mentoring scheme.

And in my true leading by example style 😜, I am showing you it is ok to celebrate your own strengths...because as suggested in the superpowers, it allows you to believe in limitless possibilities and it inspires others to do the same!

🦋 What if...you could ask yourself what your body needs today? 🦋

It can be so frustrating when it feels like your body is against you. I spent almost a year a couple of years ago wondering if I would ever feel ok again.

Knowing what I know now, I know that the frustration and desperation to get better will have kept those symptoms alive...the headaches, the feeling sick, the tension all over my body, my ears feeling weird, feeling drained, the overthinking the feeling of not knowing who I was anymore.

It was when I had solution focused hypnotherapy that those symptoms made sense.

They were never the enemy, they were trying to alert me to change.

When explained the brain to me as we do in this therapy I was like woah ...you have literally just explained my whole life in approx 20 minutes!

All of it made sense. I had been living in a survival state since I lost my Dad aged 12, and the later losses of loved ones and just things from general life piling up made the whispers I'd never really listened to became SCREAMS!

Within weeks those symptoms eased and it led me on a big healing journey because I was curious to do more to understand all of this. I now feel better than I ever did in my mind and body.

I can't pretend it was easy especially in those days that needed so much belief and faith that things will be ok.

BUT...

Now I am beyond grateful. I feel so much more in tune with my body. I listen to how it feels. If I am tired I rest. If there are times of the month that are harder I honour that. I am continuing a journey of self discovery and maintaining everything I've learned along the way.

Ultimately everything I experienced was a dysregulated nervous system.

When we regulate again, our body no longer feels alarmed and it stops screaming for help.

A lot of chronic conditions are underpinned by a dysregulated nervous system too.

Once we reconnect with ourselves, listen to what we need, symptoms ease.

I have had clients who have found this too.

Let this be your message of hope
And a sign to listen to your body

It holds more wisdom than you think!

👀 Some things I notice clients saying when they first come for sessions...👀

If any of these things are relatable, don't worry you are not the first to think or say these things.

✨️And you will be pleased to know that what they say when they finish sessions is a different story ✨️

The common thread for all of these things is a brain and nervous system that are in survival mode, doing their best to protect you.

When we support the mind and body to shift from survival, we no longer feel all of these things.

The relaxation part of this therapy is such a big part of that because for the mind to be more open to change it needs safety.

Being in a relaxed state promotes safety.

When we are safe we are no longer just surviving...

We are thriving!
