Life changes—whether expected or sudden—can leave you feeling lost, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed.

Counselling offers a trusting space to explore what you’re feeling, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with your inner strength.

You don’t have to go through the chaos and changes alone.

If you’re navigating grief, relationship shifts, career changes, or simply feeling stuck—I’m here to help. https://www.sarahholbrook.co.uk/

This week marks Dementia Action Week and whilst the Alzheimer’s Society continues to raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia, in this post I reflect on the realities of dementia - not just for those diagnosed, but for the families who walk alongside them. If you’re a carer, a loved one, or someone grieving, I want to say this: I’ve been there too.

In 2012, I lost my mum to Alzheimer’s. But if you’ve supported someone with dementia, you’ll know — the grieving doesn’t begin at the end. It begins quietly, piece by piece, long before the final goodbye.

One of the most life-changing things I ever did came soon after my mum died when I spoke to a counsellor. In that space, I could breathe, grieve, begin to process everything, and reflect.

This image keeps popping up on my feeds and I love it. It's so powerful and speaks a thousand words.

Melancolie was created in the 1930s and can be found along the shore of Lake Geneva. It was created by Hungarian sculptor Albert Gyorgy, after the lost off his wife and really captures the void and the emptiness that grief and loss can leave you with.

I often have conversations with my clients about self-care and the importance of taking time out to do the things they enjoy and that help them….Well I’m just back from my reiki massage session and that’s one of my things! I go every 4 weeks and love it. I’m now in what I call my reiki bubble and ready to float around the weekend. ❤️

Over the years, one thing after another had happened and piled up in my client's life. She was feeling lost and weighed down by it all. Talking to me over a few weeks really helped and in our final session she said these words, and I asked her if I could share them because they felt so powerful.

Counselling and help to support your mental health and wellbeing.

I'm a qualified counsellor and work with people and businesses in and around the Huddersfield area and Yorkshire. I'm also a qualified coach. I work with people face to face, online and on the telephone.

Right at the heart of everything I do, is my belief that, given the right environment, everyone has the power to make changes and to grow. I’m here to help create that space and to support people. Often painful feelings can be relieved by telling someone else and knowing you have been heard and understood.

I’m an registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and bound by its ethical framework for good practice and professional conduct. I always treat my position of trust seriously, as a privilege and with gratitude.
