🌍 This , we’re proud to celebrate Hermione, one of our dedicated Dementia Champions at Montague House Care Home.

✨ Hermione shares:

“As a Dementia Champion, I support staff in a variety of meaningful ways. I’ve been doing one-to-one sessions, offering guidance on communication, personal care techniques, and sharing different approaches to support residents living with dementia. I also review guidelines with staff to help them build a deeper understanding of dementia care.

We have a dedicated dementia area in our bistro, complete with books for relatives and a folder outlining the dementia strategy, including my role as a point of contact for families seeking support. I’ve also created a QR code linking to the Alzheimer’s Society, giving relatives easy access to information and resources.

Recently, a local visitor who plays music for residents wanted to learn more about dementia and suitable courses. With support from David, I helped her find appropriate courses, and she has since started and is really enjoying her learning journey.”

💜 Hermione’s dedication to staff training, resident support, and engaging the wider community demonstrates the real impact Dementia Champions have at Montague House, ensuring residents and families feel informed, supported, and valued.

Thank you everyone who came and made our Mad Hatter's Tea Party so wonderful!

Well done to the Montague team for putting together a fantastic event, despite the late-forecast showers 🌦

We had a wonderful time with Alice, the Queen of Hearts and the unsuppressable White Rabbit that was Sunset Magic Simon Harris!
Lots of delicious food, fantastic tunes and bubble magic throughout the afternoon - all made worth it by the smiles and joy on our residents' and community visitors' faces. 🥰

✨ This Week at Hamberley Care Homes ✨

What a week it has been across our Hamberley homes – full of music, laughter, sunshine, and wonderful memories 💛

🌞 Brookwater House Care Home – Residents enjoyed a magical afternoon with singer Marco, who wowed everyone with Italian classics and a heartfelt rendition of “My Way”.

💃 Charrington Manor Care Home – Simon had everyone moving with a joyful morning of ballroom dancing.

🎶 Cofton Park Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a bank holiday weekend filled with sing-a-longs, cheese & wine, and sunshine in the garden.

🌿 Dorking Manor Care Home – Had a fantastic day trip to Polesden Lacey, where residents explored history, art, and the beautiful gardens.

🏌️ Edwalton Manor Care Home – Residents had a wonderful outing to The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club, with golf buggies and afternoon tea.

🎨 Meryton Place Care Home – Audrey (celebrating her 100th year! 🌟) joined Clive & Tony on a trip to The Holburne Museum in Bath, enjoying art, history, and delicious cake.

🎉 Nesbit House Care Home – Held a brilliant summer party with live music, cocktails, magic, and delicious food.

🎤 Newton House Care Home – Roland Russell had residents singing, clapping, and dancing with his fantastic live performance.

🦉 Templeton Place Care Home – Residents enjoyed a fascinating Birds of Prey talk, meeting Wilfred the owl, Whispa the baby owl, and London the hawk.

🐴 Upton Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a summer party with a petting farm, Punch & Judy, crafts, stalls, and a sizzling BBQ in the sunshine.

💖 Thank you to our wonderful teams, entertainers, and communities who make weeks like this so special for our residents. Here’s to many more joyful moments together!

💠Thank you for the fantastic and interactive talk on Dementia, David Moore! 💠

Attendees said the talk was as reassuring as it was enlightening, and we look forward to you holding another in the future.

🧠Interactive elements included asking everyone to work in groups to draw a shape, while looking in a magnifying mirror - this helped to simulate the way the brain's processes can be affected for those living with dementia.

Afterwards we were delighted to extend the discussions over drinks and nibbles. 🍷🧀 Well done to Jacqueline for producing another beautiful and delicious spread 😋

At Montague we love going on trips out. This month we went to Peterborough Cathedral 🕍and Grafham Water.

Our residents were awed by the beautiful original wooden hand-painted ceilings, the Norman arches and the historical people laid to rest there. It gave Rosemarie a chance to blow the dust off her history studies! 🤓 Margaret was less keen on the Shawn the Sheep trail that was included in the price of entry! 🐑

When at Grafham water we breathed in the fresh air, 😊 walked, collected feathers and then washed it all down with piping hot drinks. ☕🫖

🚂✨ All Aboard the Intercontinental Express at Cofton Park Manor! ✨🚂

Last week, our care home Cofton Park Manor in Cofton Hackett took residents, families, and the local community on an unforgettable journey around the world – all without leaving the home! 🌍

From Italy’s rich flavours and Mexico’s vibrant fiesta, to the sunshine spirit of Greece, the electric energy of Ibiza (complete with a neon rave 🪩🎶), and finally Sweden – each day was packed with themed food, live entertainment, and cultural activities.

They even had their very own train conductor checking passports as guests boarded for each destination – adding to the fun and sense of adventure! 🚉✈️

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, dancing, and connection – a perfect reminder that life doesn’t stop when you move into a care home; it’s just the start of a new chapter filled with amazing experiences. 💙

A huge thank you to the incredible Cofton Park Manor team for hosting such a creative, joy-filled week – right down to the tiny details that made it feel like a true holiday for our residents.

🏉 Rugby spirit meets community spirit at Richmond Manor! 🏉

Our sports-loving residents were thrilled to welcome the Ampthill Womens Rugby Team to Richmond Manor Care Home as they collected their brand-new team shirts.

The shirts – sponsored by our home – will be proudly worn at the Cheltenham Festival, and we couldn’t be prouder to support such a dedicated and inspiring local team.

A special moment for 95-year-old resident Colleen Cockerill, whose stepdaughter, Sally Cockerill, once played for England as a blindside flanker – proving that the love of rugby truly runs in the family.

We wish them the best of luck for the season ahead – we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 💛💜
