🚨 Important advice about nasal decongestant sprays & drops 🚨

Products containing Xylometazoline hydrochloride or Oxymetazoline hydrochloride can help relieve a blocked nose caused by colds, flu, or allergies — but they should only be used short-term.

✅ Use exactly as directed in the Patient Information Leaflet and packaging
✅ Do not exceed the recommended dose
✅ Leave the recommended time interval between doses
❗ Do not use for more than 5 consecutive days

Using these sprays for too long can cause:
🔹 Rebound congestion (your nose becomes blocked again)
🔹 Rhinitis medicamentosa (persistent nasal irritation/swelling caused by overuse)
🔹 Tachyphylaxis (your body stops responding as well to the medicine)

You may also experience a runny nose, sneezing, itching, or irritation — which can make it feel like you need to keep using the spray.

⚠️ Do not use xylometazoline or oxymetazoline together, or with other decongestants (such as pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, or ephedrine), unless advised by a healthcare professional.

📞 Speak to your pharmacist, GP, or another healthcare professional if:
• You’ve been using it longer than recommended
• You’re struggling to stop using it
• Your symptoms worsen or haven’t improved after 5 days

Please read the leaflet that comes with your medicine and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card Scheme.

One of the most important things that a parent can do for their child is to make sure that they have all their routine childhood vaccinations.

Immunisation is the most effective way of keeping them protected against diseases.

For the best protection, it is important, children have their vaccines at the right age. However, if you or your child have missed a vaccine you may be able to catch up.
