Central & East Region Shooting Camp – Day 3

Day 3 of the Central & East Region Shooting Camp has been another fantastic day of learning and achievement for the 97 cadets attending camp.

Our Beginner Stream spent the day completing their Blue Fieldcraft training, learning the fundamentals of operating in the field, including movement, observation and teamwork. The training provided cadets with a great introduction to fieldcraft skills and how they support wider military training.

Meanwhile, the Intermediate Stream headed out onto the long ranges for the first time this week, putting yesterday’s zeroing practices into action. Cadets spent the day developing their shooting technique and working towards achieving their Silver Shot Badges, demonstrating excellent focus and determination on the firing point.

For the Advanced Stream, today marked the culmination of their Fundamentals of Coaching Course at. After a day of theory lessons and range tutorials, cadets undertook their coaching assessments — and we are delighted to announce that all 24 cadets successfully passed.

This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the dedication and professionalism shown by the cadets throughout the course as they work towards achieving their Gold Marksman Badge.

Another brilliant day at camp with plenty of successes to celebrate — we look forward to what the next day will bring!

Central & East Region Shooting Camp – Day 2

Day 2 of the Central & East Region Shooting Camp has seen cadets continue to develop their shooting knowledge and skills across multiple locations, including RAF Wittering, Prince William of Gloucester Barracks and EMTA Beckingham.

Our Beginner stream successfully completed their Initial Weapons Training (IWT) before going on to pass their Weapons Handling Test (WHT), confirming their understanding of safe weapon handling and preparing them to progress onto live firing.

The Intermediate stream spent the day completing their zeroing practices, carefully adjusting their sights and refining their shooting positions to ensure their rifles are perfectly set up ahead of the long-range shoots taking place tomorrow.

Meanwhile, our Advanced stream began their Fundamentals of Coaching Course, taking part in classroom-based theory lessons and range tutorials. The course is designed to develop their ability to coach other shooters effectively, with cadets working towards passing their assessments later in the week and achieving their Gold Marksman Badge.

In addition to the shooting programme, a number of cadets were also fortunate enough to take to the skies with Air Experience Flying, enjoying an unforgettable flying opportunity with Royal Air Force Air Cadets and gaining a unique perspective from the air.

With 97 cadets taking part, it has been another fantastic day of learning, development and opportunity at camp. We’re looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings as the shooting continues.

Central & East Region Shooting Camp – Day 1

Day 1 of the Central & East Region Shooting Camp is underway, with 97 cadets from across the region taking part in a busy and rewarding programme of shooting training.

Across the day, different groups of cadets deployed to a range of training locations to develop their marksmanship skills.

One group began their journey with Initial Weapons Training (IWT), learning the essential safety principles, weapon handling skills and marksmanship fundamentals required before progressing onto live firing.

Other Cadets travelled to RAF Wittering and Prince William of Gloucester Barracks where cadets took part in Bronze Badge shooting, with many attempting their first classification shoots and working towards their marksmanship awards.

Meanwhile, more experienced cadets headed to EMTA Beckingham to undertake Silver Badge shooting, demonstrating excellent focus and skill as they worked towards the next level of shooting qualification.

It has been fantastic to see cadets supporting one another and making the most of the opportunities on offer, with a strong start to what promises to be a great camp.

We look forward to seeing what the rest of the week brings!
