Understanding the Causes of Hair Loss
Hair loss can occur due to various factors, including genetics, stress, poor diet, and specific gender-related factors such as pregnancy, menopause, or puberty.
Genetics: Androgenetic Alopecia, commonly known as male or female pattern baldness, is a hereditary condition that can be inherited from either parent. For women, hair loss usually starts around the parting and hairline, while men often notice it at the crown and temples.
Stress & Trauma: High stress levels from life events can lead to a condition called telogen effluvium, causing increased hair shedding 3 to 6 months after the stressful period.
Nutrition & Diet: Eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and nutrients supports healthy hair growth, therefore eating a diet that lacks these nutrients, such as zinc, iron, biotin, and vitamin D can contribute to hair thinning and loss.
Health Concerns & Medication: Conditions such as thyroid issues, hormonal changes, alopecia, and side effects from medications can all lead to thinning hair.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to air pollutants, minerals in water, sun exposure, and regular colouring & styling can weaken the hair.
