Gymnastic jumping is a fantastic training technique. It involves a series of jumps placed in a line to help improve the horse’s technique, rhythm, and confidence. It’s a great way to build up their agility and coordination! It’s also a useful tool for novice riders to get the feel for the correct stride. The fences do not have to be big!

Badger has been reluctant to canter on grass or on a surface. On the lunge he has been changing leads behind also.
A quick call to our favourite vet, David Scott. SI injected with a steroid and wow what a difference this morning!!Badger offered canter, no changing leads or leaping over fences.
‘’Injecting a horse’s joints—often called intra-articular injections—is a common veterinary procedure to treat joint inflammation, arthritis, or injury. It’s most often used in performance horses, older horses with degenerative joint disease, or those recovering from trauma’’. Although Badger is not a performance horse, we want to make him as comfortable as possible. Joint injections are not the solution for every horse but are useful tool. For more information speak to your vet.

𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐐'𝐬 ❓
What do you think about when you notice a wound? Here are some common questions you may hear us ask:

- How deep is the wound?
- Where is the wound located?
- Is there any swelling, heat or pain associated?
- When did the wound happen or when did you first notice it?
- Is your horse vaccinated against Tetanus?

If a wound is large and/or deep, not contaminated and happened less than 6 hours ago, it is likely that we will recommend the wound is sutured as this greatly reduces healing time and scarring.

Please do not apply Sudocrem, Tea Tree Oils or any other similar products into the wound before discussing with a professional as this can trap bacteria in the wound and is very difficult to remove ❌

Did anyone get the storm yesterday and the very heavy rain? ☔️
We got a little rain yesterday. We had the most this morning which was not forecast ☔️ 🐴
So the ponies had a towel dry before we could tack up and ride.

Badger was very poorly at the start of the year, so much so we thought we might loose him.
Fast forward - new diet, new management, feet rebalanced and he is back at it!! 18 years young
