Last Wishes Funerals

Last Wishes Funerals Our approach is rooted in the belief that funerals should be accessible to everyone. Last Wishes Funerals was set up to meet your needs with care and kindness.

Welcome to Last Wishes Funerals, where we prioritise caring for your loved ones and honouring their precious last wishes, as well as supporting those who remain behind. Since 2013, Last Wishes Funerals has been offering a very personal, independent funeral arranging service. When someone close to you dies, it can feel as though everything around you has changed. Easy to talk to, we can ease this t

ime, when you may be feeling lost, tired and overwhelmed. Modern and independent, we create each funeral individually – no pre-set packages. You’ll be surprised at the choices available. We believe that funerals can be affordable, following the principles of Fair Funerals. I’m proud that most people choose us through word of mouth recommendation – we value your trust. Our independence means we bring flexibility to meet a wide range of budgets, styles and tastes – from contemporary occasions, including celebrations and natural (green) funerals, through to more traditional. We can also work with you if you wish to arrange the funeral yourself. Drawing on our experience and knowledge, we can make this difficult time easier as we help you care for the last wishes of you or your loved one. Trained with Green Fuse, the award-winning organisation for funeral directors and celebrants, whether you’re starting with a blank sheet, or some ideas or plans, we work with you with thoughtfulness and attention to detail, so the arrangements and the funeral happen smoothly. With us, a funeral can be as unique and special as you want. We also help people who are thinking ahead to develop their last wishes plans. When you’re ready, please get in touch.

In November, we're holding a ‘Memories’ event at the shop in New Earswick. A day which is dedicated to remembering loved ones who have died and an opportunity to share memories about their life.

Each of us has within us the chance to be remembered for making a positive impact on peoples’ lives.
Have you taken the time to think about what you’ll leave behind someday? It all comes down to how you live your life, the plans you make, and the messages you choose to convey.
This Sunday afternoon, we are asking, "how would you like to be remembered?”

Let’s embrace some self love and comment and share below.

Don't forget to give our page a like or a follow :)

🔉Introducing 2 of 3 personal and informative interviews which opens the door to how our service at Last Wishes is unique and will make you think again about what the possibilities are.

Interview Number 2: Being Involved in Funeral Planning - A Child's Experience 🔉
How much should children be involved in the planning of a loved one's funeral, or even attending a funeral?

This beautiful interview with Sharon and Ruben (grandma and grandson) describes how 11 year old Ruben was involved in the planning and attending of his great grandma's funeral including his experience of attending the Last Wishes shop and helping his great grandma chose her coffin.

Ruben tells us how important it was that he was not left out and by seeing for himself how the process worked which then removed any fear or assumptions.

The interview begins with Sharon who's previous experience with a traditional funeral director led her to Last Wishes where 'different' opens the door to better and stronger lasting memories with your loved one.

Interview Number 1: From One Helping Hand to Another 🔉
How much would you like to be involved in the moments after a loved ones passing? This personal interview with Oscar (one of trusted firefighters and customers at Last Wishes) talks openly about his experience with the passing of his Mum and how the service he offers to Last Wishes became a valuable support in his own personal life.

Funeral directors often use the assistance of off-duty firefighters, ambulance drivers and retired policemen to support with the carrying and lifting. Did you also know that families can chose to bring their loved one into their chosen funeral director should they wish to carry on their caring duties and honour their loved ones right through to the end.

A Heartfelt Reflection: A Unique Farewell

Looking back at a special funeral we arranged some time ago, we're reminded of the beauty in honouring personal choices. The family opted to transport their loved one via a rickshaw—a choice that was personal, uplifting, and beautifully simple. At Last Wishes, we believe in supporting families to fulfil their loved ones' final desires, no matter how unique or unconventional they may be.

In the most challenging moments, it’s often the simple things that bring the most comfort. This touching farewell is a reminder that even in tough times, there’s space for creating happy, lasting memories.

Spending this bank holiday Monday reflecting on a recent project that holds deep meaning. We had the privilege of working with a family to create a beautiful metal petal structure in memory of their late husband. This unique installation even holds ashes at the base, making it an even more personal tribute. We’re excited to see how the young flowers will grow and flourish around it over time, adding to the beauty and significance of this special memorial. 🌸
What are your plans for this bank holiday?

We can't wait to see as many of you there as possible ❤️
