Food Chain, our monthly community-led cookery workshop is coming up on Monday 31 March, 6-8pm in Square Deal community hub.

Celebrating the diversity of cultures within our local communities, Food Chain is a relaxed, fun and friendly event. Each time, a member of our local community here in Huntly shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of 'home'. We cook the recipe together, then enjoy eating it!

For this month’s Food Chain, Paulina will be sharing her recipe for a Mexican staple dish called tacos dorados de picadillo. The dish consists of fried and rolled corn tortillas – the ‘tacos dorados’, stuffed with beef or lentil ‘picadillo’. The name picadillo comes from the Spanish word, ‘picar’ meaning to mince, because all the ingredients are chopped finely. Paulina will show us her version of picadillo, which includes vegetables with either beef mince or lentils. The tacos are topped with lettuce and soured cream / vegan soured cream.

✨ Yesterday, our friends Julia and Maria cooked Ukrainian Vinaigrette at the Deveron Project Food Chain Workshop. It was a poignant day, as it marked the 3rd anniversary of the war in Ukraine. 🇺🇦
Food chain workshops are a beautiful way to bring people together, as we believe that food is a universal language that connects us and allows us to learn from one another. 🌍
Thank you to everyone who joined us, your presence made the evening welcoming and meaningful. 🙌
We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Come along on Monday 24 February from 6-8pm for our monthly community cookery workshop, Food Chain.

This month, we're going to learn how to make Viniagrette, a comforting and homely Ukrainian dish with Julia and Mariia. Traditionally made from beetroot and other root vegetables, fermented vegetables and Ukrainian sunflower oil, we'll cook the recipe together and once ready, sit and eat it!

Hello everyone,
Join us on Monday 27th January, 6-8pm in Square Deal, Huntly. We are collaborating with Deveron Projects, Foodchain monthly workshop to celebrate the Asian New Year!
We will make Jiaozi, traditional Chinese dumplings filled with pork and cabbage; Mandu, Korean dumplings packed with kimchi and vegetables; and Bansh, Mongolian steamed dumplings filled with tasty beef. This event is an opportunity to explore the rich tapestry of culture and traditions accompanying the Asian New Year celebrations across different Asian countries. We look forward to seeing you soon! Join us for our first Food Chain cookery workshop of 2025, where we'll focus on all things dumpling, to celebrate Asian New Year!

🥟 Monday 27 January, 6-8pm in Square Deal, Huntly

Led by Huntly Diversity and Language group, we'll learn how to make three different kinds of dumpling from different countries that celebrate Asian New Year. In the workshop, we will make and eat Jiaozi, a Chinese ‘potsticker’ dumpling stuffed with pork and vegetables; Mandu, a Korean steamed dumpling full of kimchi and vegetables; and Bansh, a Mongolian beef steamed dumpling. Giving an insight into how different countries and cultures celebrate Asian New Year, this Food Chain promises to be warming, celebratory and delicious!

This event is family friendly and free to attend, but booking is essential. Please contact:
