It's that time of year again. The garden needs trimmed, plants and hedges need pruned, leaves need blown and brushed up. There is something quite pleasing and calming about September and the onset of Autumn.

If your trimmers are in need of a sharpen to help get through the autumnal gardening, get in touch : phone, message, WhatsApp, and even good old fashioned pop round.

I don’t sharpen 24 x7, I make stuff as well. This weekend’s project is a new router table. And inevitably I will need to sharpen these router bits, so maybe I do sharpen 24 x7 !

Once in a while the “mission impossible” scissor comes into the workshop. A left handed, curved, cast scissors, with bent tips.

These don’t straighten using conventional thinking and methods ( they snap the tips ) so it was on on with the “thinking out of the box cap ”to get these repaired and cutting smoothly again for my client.

Job done.

This afternoon’s work.

It’s a little bit hot in the workshop today. The doors are wide open, the fan is on full bore, and the music on loud.

What a lovely summer’s day.

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes.

I'm running a bit behind after being off nearly 5 weeks due to ilness and recovering from surgery. So if you have equipment with me, and you haven't heard from me, please get in touch. I plan on getting it all done this week.

I'll not be taking on any more work on until August 11th, when I return from a couple of weeks pre-planned family holiday (I'm not going anywhere exciting though).

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Today’s dustless sharpening was putting the scandi grind back in the workshop general purpose mora knife.

The tormek waterwheel makes a lovely job. Just about as satisfying as doing it by hand. Shaving sharp.

I'm recovering from Eye surgery and not allowed to to lift heavy things, no working in a dusty environment, no haircut or working with hairy things, no gardening or DIY. Hmmmm.

But I shoukd be back to work at the beginning of next week.

Looking for something hands on to do, I found an old bushcraft knife of mine that needed repaired and sharpened . So I got out the hand sharpening kit.

A very relaxing and theraputic exercise it was too.

A couple of days back from hols and I'm already inventing new things.

Introducing the FURMINATOR. Borne out of necessity, but mostly after being hounded by Mrs. Simply Sharp to do something about the vast amounts of pink fur I take into the house on my clothes every time I'm in the workshop.

And after we spent a whole 9 hours deep cleaning the workshop in our holidays last week, I came up with this. A Test cutting booth. So far so good, or shoukd that be so FUR so good 😄.
