The magic of sand and sound
Having had a variety of jobs, as a zoo-keeper, gardener, ghost-writer, horticultural instructor in prison, I started working with people in a helping capacity in 2000. Since then I have studied, explored and experienced many different forms of therapy and personal development approaches, worked as a psychotherapist in the NHS for seven years, managed a drug rehab in a womenโs prison, volunteered in Sri Lanka teaching trauma therapy to trainee counsellors, took part in research projects, and completed my MSc Therapeutic Practice in Psychological Trauma. Whilst talking therapies and trauma treatment approaches I have been using over the years have undoubtedly been of great help to many of my clients, in recent years I am increasingly drawn to creative ways of working - with sandplay therapy, sound healing, art, nature, and these are the areas which I draw upon most for my own healing.
This page exists to share my fascination and awe of the profound, deep work that is possible through Sandplay Therapy and Sound Healing, as well as other creative approaches. I hope you enjoy the journey with me. If you want to experience this in person, I offer individual Sand & Sound for the Soul mini-retreats, of half-day and full-day in duration, at my therapy practice in Glossop.
