Fearful, negative thought patterns are common when you have chronic pain. They are completely natural. Unfortunately, these thought patterns are the fuel that keep pain chronic.
The good news is, with the belief and understanding that your chronic pain is not dangerous and is just a habit within the brain, you can begin to change these negative thought patterns. As you practice new thought patterns that convey messages of safety to your brain, and you consistently respond to pain or symptoms calmly, you create a new habit within the brain. This new pattern brings the brain and nervous system out of fight or flight mode, so pain and symptoms can resolve.
