Today is all about celebrating and encouraging random acts of kindness.

Kindness helps others and is also good for your own mental health. Even a small act of kindness can brighten someone’s day and make you feel better too.

Anyone can join in! Here are some ideas for random acts of kindness you can try today:

⭐Send a positive text: A quick "Thinking of you!" or "You're doing great!"
⭐Compliment the first three people you speak to today.
⭐Call a friend/relative: Have a real chat with someone lonely or who you haven't spoken to in a while.

As people age, they can experience deterioration in their health, including hearing loss. 👂

It is estimated that there are 11 million people with hearing loss across the UK, with such a large number of people having hearing loss, it is essential to understand how to communicate with them effectively.

Here are some tips for living with someone who has hearing loss:
-Be patient: People with hearing loss may become frustrated when communication breaks down.
-Reduce background noise: ensure you are communicating in a quiet environment.
-Face the person: Make sure the person can see your face while you talk.
-Speak clearly: Use your regular tone of voice and don't shout.
-Use visual cues: Use hand gestures and lip movements.
-Check for understanding: Confirm with the person that they have understood.
-Rephrase: If the person doesn't understand, try saying it differently.
-Take breaks: People with hearing loss may get tired quickly trying to understand.
-Encourage hearing tests: Untreated hearing loss can lead to social anxiety, depression, and other negative effects.

If you are worried about someone's hearing loss, speak to your GP.
