There are just two weeks left of in-person classes at The Garden Retreat before I go off on my jolly for much needed winter warmth and sunshine.

There will be some online classes while I'm away in December which will be every Saturday and Sunday morning 9/10am UK time. These are;

The Hundred
The Hundred is an exercise that requires coordination of breath & movement. Control and precision are two other important features of this exercise.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Pilates hundred already, here’s how to execute it.

The first step of the Pilates hundred exercise involves getting into the right position. From supine (flat on your back) on the mat find table top legs position. This is when the knees are bent so that the thighs are perpendicular to the floor and the shins are parallel to the floor.

The next step involves reaching your fingers towards your toes. As you do so, your head, neck and upper spine should curl up into a “C” shape. And they stay there for the duration of the exercise! At this point your arms will be hovering a few inches off the ground.

Finally, straighten your legs so that they are suspended above your mat. You can lower them towards the ground for greater challenge to the abdominals or higher for less challenge.

And now for the exercise itself.

The Hundred is named after the number of beats your arms make during the exercise. So, once you find the starting position, start to pump your arms up and down. As you do so, sync these movements with your breath.

There is a specific breath pattern in this exercise. And it goes: inhale for five seconds, exhale for five seconds. Repeat inhaling and exhaling this way ten times and there you have it: the Pilates Hundred.

*In this version my legs are in table top throughout.

There are so many different variations of the hundred, including the use of magic rings, bands and more.

Pilates with Vee every Wednesday in person at The Garden Retreat 6:15-7:15pm, and online every Tuesday 6:15-7:15pm.

Here's my latest one from a corporate client and their team.

Working at a desk all day can have a negative impact on your posture, your breathing and so much more.

I delivered a 30 minute, in person desk yoga session to help undo all of the negative effects of being seated all day. In that 30 minute session, along with breathing practice and stretching, I also did a guided 5 minute meditation too.

Sessions like these make your employees feel valued, more productive, and feel appreciated for the work they do. There are so many benefits to corporate sessions like these, and it's great to receive such positive feedback.
