This week's sudden cold snap is a reminder that winter is on the way, and we won't be the only ones feeling it πŸ₯Ά

Small pets, like rabbits and guinea pigs, need extra care during this time of year. Guinea pigs are happiest when the temperature is between 15-20 degrees, and rabbits originally lived in burrows which protected them from the cold, wind, and rain.

So imagine how they feel when the temperature suddenly drops? You can keep your small pets happy and healthy during the winter by following our tips ❄️

Rearing up facts for rabbits πŸ‡πŸ’œ

What is Rearing Up? πŸ‡

Have you ever seen your rabbit stand on its hind legs? This behaviour is known as "rearing up," and is a natural and important part of rabbit behaviour. 🐰

Why do rabbits rear up?

🧐 To get a better view of their surroundings
πŸƒ To reach higher places or objects
πŸ‘‚ To investigate unfamiliar sounds or scents

Why is it important?

Rearing up helps rabbits:

🦴 Strengthen their spine and hind legs
🧠 Stay mentally stimulated and curious
🐾 Maintain overall physical and emotional health

How can you support this behaviour?

🏠 Ensure your rabbit's enclosure is at least 1 metre (3 feet) high
🌿 Provide varied environments with different levels and textures
🎯 Offer enrichment activities to keep them engaged

Remember, a happy bunny is an active bunny! πŸ‡πŸ’›
