Blossom and New beginnings

The thing about new beginnings or fresh starts is they don’t exist - not really. Spring is not a new beginning. its an evolution - a long sweet blossomy out breath of an inevitable season - it is rhythmic punctuation .

Perhaps Nothing is ever really a new beginning. Perhaps fresh starts instead , with honesty , are like spring ; infused with fresh determination, a recycling - an integration of old materials with new. a rebuild of past moments, scratched certainties, lost loves, broken ideologies
all taken with us as we step forwards with courage.

Spring is a return . Spring is an opportunity to recycle to be resourceful with our pain and joy and wounds. Spring reminds us to plant and reminds us with blossom showers not to hold too tightly.
Spring- a warrior woman in a pale pink dress reminds us to expect changes and shifts in who stays and who goes, what remains and what evolves when life does its thing and gets messy.in all its its complex brutal organised fullness .
Perhaps
theres no such thing as new beginnings but instead perhaps moments to marvel in the blossom and look up through the branches.. What will fall away? Be planted , repurposed .
Can we celebrate spring aa a checkpoint of new awareness ?

Things and stones :

for anyone life shaken, taken, detoured from the parh you were so certain of, made weary , worn down , struggling that life is strapped in the driver seat taking unfamiliar turns - not consulting you … i found a stone. can you see the heart ? it got me thinking. How like natures heart on a sea- polished stone. love expresses itself unexpectedly, inevitably, shows up for us humans amidst the chaos and confusion of things falling apart .
in a sea of pebbles, in days of overwhelm, in moments of deapair what shifts when we get still and embrace little expressions of love?

heres a poem by Ellen Bass-

The Thing Is

to love life, to love it even
when you have no stomach for it
and everything you’ve held dear
crumbles like burnt paper in your hands,
your throat filled with the silt of it.
When grief sits with you, its tropical heat
thickening the air, heavy as water
more fit for gills than lungs;
when grief weights you down like your own flesh
only more of it, an obesity of grief,
you think, How can a body withstand this?
Then you hold life like a face
between your palms, a plain face,
no charming smile, no violet eyes,
and you say, yes, I will take you
I will love you, again.”

“The Thing Is” by Ellen Bass, from Mules of Love.

I used to be a spiritual teacher.
I had to quit when I realised
there was no such thing.

Or rather, everything is a spiritual teacher.
The cat. The carpet. A chair.
A tree. A mountain.
My dad with dementia.
Heartache. Joy. My own. Yours.
The man sleeping on the pavement.
The breathtaking night sky.

It’s all a teacher.
It’s all a guru.

And I am just a mouthpiece, as we all are.
I am just a friend, sharing my heart.
I am just a bird, singing my song.

I quit as a spiritual teacher,
I quit as any kind of authority,
and I became a real human being, authentic, embodied, honest and true.

And there I found my true peace and enlightenment.

In the temple of the ordinary.
In the sanctuary of the mundane.
In the holy heart of the uncovered moment.

A helpful reminder for any parent. If your child can't tell you in words, they will often use their behaviour to let you know how they’re feeling. This might come out as anger.

Underneath these behaviours, a young person who seems very angry may also be feeling things like fear, stress, sadness, hurt or worry – or might be struggling to cope with a difficult experience at school, at home or in another part of their life that they feel unable to talk about.

It can be helpful to remember that a person who’s feeling angry a lot of the time probably isn’t feeling very happy – and while it might not be obvious, what they often need is support. Supporting children and young people to put their feelings into words can help them to feel less overwhelming, making it less likely that they will need to act out.

Fall in love with the darkness.
With the p**s and the s**t of life.
The shadows, the hidden parts.
The bits we hide out of shame.

Fall in love with the innocence.
Our childhood fears of the dark.
Of being exposed. Of showing ourselves,
being seen, coming into the light.

The doubts, the secret pains,
our strange fantasies, feelings we
just don't know what to do with.
Terrors of the night-time.
The rage that bubbles just under the surface.
The fear that we are not loveable.

The feelings and thoughts we conceal
to maintain the image of 'me'.
To be good, to be nice, to be spiritual.
To be 'the one who can hold it all together'.

Fall in love with this secret humanity.
Know that darkness is NOT darkness,
only scared fragments longing to come into the light,
beings who want love, and attention,
and breath, and inclusion in the larger picture of Self.

Do not seek the light, friend.
Simply be the light. Be what you are.
The light of life.
And have the courage to shine fully
on the sore places, the tender places.

Illuminate. Radiate.
Make it safe for the little monsters
to come out of hiding.
Let them know they are beautiful.
And worthy.
And not monsters at all.

I help you achieve your goals

www.emmacoffeytherapy.co.uk Do you have a habit you want to break? Do you lack confidence in the workplace? Do you have a fear that limits your enjoyment of life? Maybe you lack confidence in who you are or how you look? Whether your issues are related to stress or phobias, low self-esteem, weight, smoking, unhelpful habits; or whether you are concerned about an important exam, interview, or presentation, my Evidence Based approach can help you change for the better. Combining the two most powerful psychological therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and hypnosis, I help people achieve their goals and experience lasting change to transform the quality of their life. In the state of hypnosis and with CBT we can reset the way we think and in doing so change the things we do, or how we feel, for the better. This type of therapy is typically much shorter than many other psychotherapeutic methods. Each case varies, but effective treatment is most often delivered in an average of 6 sessions.

A fully qualified, insured and registered CBT-Hypnotherapist, I am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, CNHC and the National Council for Hypnotherapy. Email admin@emmacoffeytherapy.co.uk or call me on 07792389861 to find out more
