1920s Seaside-Themed Picnic at Elm Lea – A Wonderful Success! 🌊🌞🎉

What an incredible day we’ve had at Elm Lea! Our 1920s seaside-themed picnic was a true success, and I just want to take a moment to reflect on what a joyful, memorable day it’s been for our residents.

Since returning home, I’ve received so many lovely messages from relatives, full of thanks and kind words. Here are just a few:

“Thank you for arranging a lovely party. Well done to you all for your hard work to make it a success.”
“Thank you for a lovely afternoon, it was nice to see Mum and the other residents enjoying themselves.”

These messages mean the world to us.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day so special—Debbie, Lisa, Juhi, Tammy, Tessy, Shradra, and Baz—for your hard work, dedication, and positive energy from start to finish and thank you to Mr. Khanna for your support and for allowing us the freedom to bring such joy to our residents.

We are also incredibly grateful to all the relatives and friends who supported the event. Your presence and encouragement added so much to the day.

As Elm Lea’s Registered Manager, I am beyond proud. Seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces makes every effort worthwhile. 😊

This year’s event was even better than the last, and I know we’ll keep building on this joy together. Let’s keep shining! 🌟

Working as a team in a care home is a truly wonderful experience. Coming together with a shared purpose—to provide the best possible care—helps improve outcomes for our residents and builds strong, trusting relationships. When residents feel safe, valued, and supported, it makes all the difference.

Our manager is incredibly proud of the entire team at Elm Lea for their dedication, compassion, and hard work in ensuring every resident is well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. Together, we are making a real difference in their lives.

Reassurance and comfort play a crucial role in helping residents feel safe and secure. Dementia can lead to a wide range of emotions, including confusion, fear, and frustration. By knowing each resident well, staff can adopt a person-centred approach that recognises and responds to individual needs and preferences. This personalised care fosters a sense of trust and emotional well-being, helping residents feel valued, understood, and ultimately happier.

"A simple smile in a care home can go a long way, especially for residents living with dementia. When they feel safe, valued, and cared for, it helps build positive relationships that are essential not only for emotional well-being but also for improving their physical health. At the heart of great dementia care is connection, trust, and kindness."

Residents enjoyed baking and reminiscing about baking with their children and grandchildren, which had a positive impact on their wellbeing. The activity promoted independence and choice, and was delivered in line with person-centred approaches, respecting each individual's preferences and abilities."
