Acupuncture sensitive patients: DVT, and severe pelvic pain
During acupuncture clinical practice, some patients with chronic diseases are in very serious condition. Conventional treatment of modern medicine may take months or even years to recover, but they are extremely sensitive to acupuncture treatment and will soon get better or even fully recover. I call such patients "acupuncture-sensitive people."
Below is a sample (as her Google review on my clinic website): several years ago, due to a flare up of a post DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) syndrome, only two sessions, finished. Recently severe pelvic pain, 10/10, 3-4 sessions, much better nearly gone.

The hair on the affected side of a patient with brain trauma injury grows faster after skull repair surgery (010724)
Middle-aged man H is a senior executive of a large company. He was in a serious coma due to severe intracranial haemorrhage during a business trip last year. The local hospital had declared him dead and gave up treatment. After trying to transfer him to a large specialist hospital in another place for emergency surgery, most of the left skull was removed, saving his life. He returned to the UK a few weeks later and continued to receive treatment and gradually recovered. However, he was left with dizziness, memory loss, and severe fatigue. Six months later, he underwent skull metal repair surgery, and the above symptoms improved significantly the next day after the surgery. After being introduced and contacted many times, he came to my clinic last week for treat his remaining right limb paraesthesia and insufficient brain high-level thinking and judgment ability. During the consultation, his wife told me an interesting phenomenon. After the metal skull repair surgery on his left side, the hair on the left side grew much faster than the right side, and the doctor could not explain it. Why does the hair on the affected side grow faster after the skull is repaired with metal? Do you have any explanation? How do you understand it?

Parkinson’s patient with loss of smell (continued)
I once shared that a Parkinson’s patient had a loss of smell and taste 10 years before the onset of the disease. After 10 treatments based mostly on scalp acupuncture, during the summary today, she excitedly told me that her sense of smell has returned by about 30%, and she can smell her favorite lavender hand cream again. And her sense of taste has improved, and she can enjoy the taste of food again, instead of not having any taste in the past few years, and just eating for the sake of eating. In addition, the hand shaking and tremor has improved about 10%-20% without changing the dosage of the medicine. She is very happy and feel more confident. Continue to make an appointment for the second course of treatment.

There are lots of esquires to me from colleagues to search for help of themselves and /or their patients. Below is a sample of the enquiry about neuropathic pain
"Hello Dr. Wang,
I hope you are doing well. My name is ###, I attended your scalp acupuncture course in ### 2023. I just received a request of a complex case and I wonder if I can search for your kind guidance.
This client had a collar bone fracture 18 months ago which healed badly. She then decided to go with a surgery which broke the bone and fixed it to correct the angle. But since the surgery, she experienced neuropathic pain in the entire arm and the pain is getting worse over time. She also felt heavy in her hand. She was told there seemed to be damages to her brachial plexus as she has no use of her hand. In addition she has developed something called Complex regional pain syndrome.
I wonder if you had treated this condition before? I am thinking of using sensory area middle 2/5 and foot motor sensory area but wonder if you mind giving me some guidance?
I hope you don't mind this long email. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you."
My reply:
"Thanks for the email and happy to give some suggestions.
Neuropathic pain, brachial plexus or CRPS, are all quite challenge conditions. SA may provide unique help. SSA and FMSA are all good for them, you may add SEA, VMA, with fast manipulation and /or plus electric.
Good luck for you and your patient. "

Parkinson’s Disease patient with loss of smell:
I have just received a female patient with Parkinson's disease who was transferred from a local acupuncturist. The 74-year-old artist began to experience hand tremors from the summer in 2022. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by a specialist last summer 2023. During the consultation, she revealed that she had lost 90% of her sense of smell 20 years ago. She was surprised that I asked about the issue of smell. She said that it was the same as her neurologist’s consultation and explanation. She had seen multiple GPs and other acupuncture treatments, but none of them asked about sense of smell. He also said that if he had known that loss of smell was related to Parkinson's disease, preventive methods or treatment would have been started a few years ago.
In recent years, the relationship between loss or change of smell with Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) which has received more and more attention, and more and more clinical cases and studies have confirmed this connection. It also puts forward some new ideas for us to carry out prevention.
Impaired sense of smell has received increasing attention as an early sign of PD and AD. In June 2017, a related article was published in "Lancet Neurology". The author is Professor Richard L Doty of the University of Pennsylvania. He believes that Neurotransmitter dysfunction is a potential cause of olfactory loss in neuro-degenerative diseases. More than 90% of patients with Parkinson's disease report olfactory abnormalities, and almost all patients diagnosed with moderate or severe Alzheimer's disease have olfactory dysfunction.
The best scalp acupuncture treatment for lose of smell would be: Nose Throat Mouth Tongue Area (NYMTA) or Head Area (HDA), plus Sensory Area.
