A closer look at Rutland Manor

Rutland Manor has themed areas with bright colours to enhance peoples’ moods and provide visual impact and distraction. All our nurses and carers are trained to a high standard in using effective communication to de-escalate what can at times appear challenging situations. They strive to improve the quality of life for the person and create opportunities for residents to express their own identity.

Residents are actively encouraged to move around the home as they wish and to keep themselves busy with day to day activities that stimulate their mind and help them feel valued as people. We employ 2 activities co-ordinators dedicated to tailoring activities that promoting independence, either one to one or in considered group therapy. We focus on ability rather than weakness, aiming to retain key skills for as long as possible.

Dementia patients are often a forgotten group of society, excluded from many social situations. But at Rutland Manor we strive to make our residents’ dementia journey a pleasant one. We use a person-centred approach for all our care; ensuring that the individual is always at the centre of our thoughts and where necessary, making best interest decisions for people that are based on extensive research of the person’s own values system.
