Dr John Ogden, London Marathon here I come!
Let me tell you my story.
Through a sequence of strange events I find myself celebrating my 75th birthday, entered to run the London Marathon 2021 on behalf of the Carers Trust.
This has come as quite a shock as it was most definitely not planned.
The question arises of how to minimise the risk of damaging myself and how to get the best performance out of this wonderful old body of mine?
How can I train my mind and body to achieve my optimal condition and create the stamina I'm going to need. To stand a chance of reaching my goal I must balance my mind and body to the best of my ability.
Now I would be a fool to do this if I had not thoroughly checked myself out, to make certain that I come to no harm with the best thorough screening system that I know of.
As a leading practitioner of evidence based anti-ageing techniques, I have developed a unique screening platform. We record up to 50 measures (using medical grade testing equipment) into the cloud-based system and it instantly delivers a potentially life-changing report. A quick glance and we see which of the vital signs are outside the optimum with advice of how to correct shortcomings.
In effect, my system shows people how their present lifestyle affects their body and mind. The necessary changes in lifestyle, diet, gentle exercise and breathing techniques are small but if followed will bring knowledge and understanding of how you can begin to live your very best life.
I would dearly love to share my system with everyone, not just the people that are getting off their backsides to improve themselves and raise money for charities.
(How many people are damaging themselves unknowingly with the Couch-to-5k, Joe Wicks programmes and Peloton?) why not make sure you're fit to get fit.
Here's the breakthrough in fitness and lifestyle we have all been searching for...
• Measure key performance indicators
• How to repair vulnerabilities
• Here's the hub that joins everything together
Once you start, you can track and trend your progress in real time to follow the effects of the suggested lifestyle changes in diet, sleep or exercise that you make. You can even download your own app so you can take advice from your coach/trainer/advisor in real time.

This technology can also be used by those vulnerable people trapped at home to communicate their condition with the outside world. Which leads me onto the organisation I'm supporting, The Carer's Trust

So many people I know, for many different reasons have unexpectedly ended up as full-time carers.
It is frightening and can happen to any one of us.
One of my friends came back from Los Angeles for a short while to look after her mother who had suffered a stroke. Then her father's health failed and she was trapped, 24/7 for the next 7 years. Sadly she died before both her parents with breast cancer.
• In the UK 1 in 8 adults (around 6.5 million people) are carers
Here are some astonishing facts...
• Every day another 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility, that equals over 2 million people every year.
• 58% of carers are women and 42% are men.
• 1.3 million people provide over 50 hours of care per week.
• Over 1 million people care for more than one person
• As of 2020, Carers UK estimates there are around 13.6 million people caring through the pandemic.
5 million people in the UK are juggling caring responsibilities with work - that's 1 in 7 of the workforce.
• However, the significant demands of caring mean that 600 people give up work every day to care for an older or disabled relative.
• Carer's Allowance is the main carer's benefit and is £67.25 for a minimum of 35 hours, the lowest benefit of its kind.
Anyway here I go, to help this worthy cause, all contributions are very much appreciated.
