LFW Podiatry Welcomes Two New Graduates to the Team in Ilkley
LFW Podiatry based on Ashlands Road, Ilkley is delighted to welcome two outstanding graduates to its growing team at the Ashlands Road clinic in Ilkley.
Rachel Wheeler, an HCPC Registered Podiatrist, joins the practice this month. Rachel recently graduated with First Class Honours in Podiatric Medicine from the University of Huddersfield and brings with her a passion for high-quality patient care and clinical excellence.
Also joining the team for the summer is George Hammond, who earned a First Class Honours degree in Sports Therapy from the University of Lincoln. George will be supporting the clinic over the coming months, offering sports massage and working with patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery. He is especially skilled at helping sportspeople prepare for and recover from events, supporting both amateur and professional athletes in staying mobile, strong, and pain-free.
Both Rachel and George will be based at the Ilkley clinic, working closely with Lynda Forbes-Wake, Podiatrist and Founder of LFW Podiatry, and the wider clinical team.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rachel and George to LFW Podiatry,” said Lynda Forbes-Wake. “Their academic achievements and dedication to their fields align perfectly with our commitment to providing top-quality podiatric care. We look forward to seeing them thrive as part of our team.”
A Year of Celebration and Milestones for LFW Podiatry
2025 marks a momentous year for LFW Podiatry as the business celebrates 10 successful years of delivering outstanding care to the local community. The clinic was first established in Burley in Wharfedale in 2015, and due to growing demand, a second location was opened in Ilkley in 2018. Today, both clinics support patients of all ages with a wide range of foot and lower limb concerns.
In March, Founder Lynda Forbes-Wake celebrated a milestone 60th birthday — made even more special by the clinic welcoming its 7,000th patient in the same month. Over the past decade, LFW Podiatry has gone from strength to strength, earning multiple awards for clinical excellence and patient care.
This year also marks seven years of working with experienced podiatrist Helen Holmes, a key member of the clinical team. In addition, in March 2025 the team proudly welcomed Amy Barrett, Podiatrist to the team. Amy brings a wealth of expertise from her previous role as a specialist podiatrist in diabetes care at St James’s Hospital, further strengthening LFW’s multidisciplinary care approach.
LFW Podiatry offers a total podiatry experience, caring for patients from the very young to the elderly. From treating conditions like ingrowing toenails, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendinitis, to providing gait and motion analysis and custom 3D-printed orthotics using the Phits system, the clinic delivers modern, evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs.
As part of its commitment to diabetic foot health, LFW Podiatry also provides advanced gait analysis for ulcer prevention. Using pressure plate technology, the team analyses the way patients walk to detect and address areas of excessive pressure on the feet — helping to prevent ulceration and long-term complications in people living with diabetes.
Through a strong partnership with The Valley Clinic, LFW Podiatry also offers seamless access to first-class physiotherapy, diagnostic ultrasound scans, and steroid injections via a collaborative care programme — helping patients stay mobile and pain-free.
Routine podiatry services — formerly known as chiropody — are also available, including nail cutting, corn and hard skin removal, verruca treatment, and problem nail care.
