Had a successful day providing massage and injury support at the Ilkley Half Marathon yesterday alongside the inaugural Ilkley 5k🏃🏽🏃🏼‍♀️

Despite the extremely hot conditions everyone smashed it and lots of money was raised for good causes!

Last weekend marked the final of 22 games in the 24/25 Regional 2 North East division and my first full season working pitchside🏉

Overall the 1XV team ended up 3rd out of 12 teams in their first season in NE2 and also achieved the longest winning streak of 8 games🏆

Congratulations to all of the players for a great season, can’t wait to see how the next one goes💪🏼

Thought I’d share one of my recent days off of work in the life as a Sport Rehabilitator!

🥞8:38am - started the morning off attempting a new protein pancake recipe which turned out amazing
📦11:46am - organised through a recent parcel I’d received of some healthcare products to try
🍰1:49pm - went to a nearby bakery with a friend to get some sweet treats
🌳2:52pm - made the most of a sunny day with a friend on their day off and walked her dog
🏋🏼‍♀️4:44pm - headed to the gym for a steady leg day session whilst managing a minor knee injury
🍗7:32pm - made some sesame hot honey chicken bites for tea which tasted great

I enjoyed taking advantage of the nice spring weather to get outside and being able to experiment with some new recipes was a fun way to spend a day off!

As we’re only a couple months into the new year, life can still often feel a bit more hectic due to expectations of New Year’s resolutions…

Despite feeling like this, a few of the things I’ve been up to recently have included:
👩🏼‍⚕️ Continuing to help my lovely clients move and feel better
🥾 Adventuring on hikes in new places with friends
👩🏼‍🍳 Trying to make some new recipes when I feel inspired
🧘🏼‍♀️ Enjoying attending yoga to relax and destress
🏉 Staying busy working pitchside on weekends
💪🏼 Pushing myself to try new split routines at the gym
🌨️ Going on winter walks when the weather is bearable

I just wanted to share this brief personal recap to remind everyone that it’s perfectly okay to not have a brand new routine for the new year; you can always gradually introduce things into everyday life instead!

Thought I’d share one of my recent days in the life as a Sport Rehabilitator!

🐾8:30am - started the morning off with some cuddles from a furry friend
💆🏼‍♀️11:35am - arrived at work to prep the treatment room ahead of appointments with clients
🎁1:27pm - received a very cute little surprise from work
💻3:00pm - double checked patient notes
🧘🏼‍♀️5:53am - headed to the last evening yoga class of the year at the gym
🎄7:12pm - spotted an elf working out in the gym
🍔8:40pm - treated myself and picked up food from a local restaurant which tasted unreal

No two days are ever the same but that’s what makes it so enjoyable!

As we’re getting closer to Christmas it can often be hard to prioritise health and wellbeing, especially when it comes to recovering from gym sessions or injuries…

Despite feeling like this, a few things I’ve been doing to make my recovery easier have included:

🧘🏼‍♀️Prioritising stretching before any form of activity to optimise mobility
💪🏼Utilising resistance bands before heavy lifting to avoid excessive strain on muscles and joints
🚰Drinking plenty of water as your body can become dehydrated due to sweating
❄️Incorporating cool downs after exercise to give your heart and breathing rates time to calm down
😋Eating plenty of nutritional foods in order to fuel your body with enough energy to repair and rebuild muscles
💪🏼Using foam rollers or massage guns to reduce tightness and aid blood flow
🥾Going on short walks as light forms of movement are a great way to tackle muscle soreness
😴Getting consistent amounts of sleep to help muscles repair and strengthen
🎄Planning active rest days or deload weeks to recover and more importantly enjoy the festive season

I just wanted to share this to remind everyone that even those who work in healthcare and sporting settings sometimes struggle to prioritise the important things too!
