Swap Your Seasons.

Today officially mark's the last day of Summer, so it's the perfect time to swap your season (if you haven't already)

Rotate Wardrobes. Pack away light summer clothes into vacuum bags or labelled bins, and bring forward jumpers, boots, and coats. Keep a small “in-between” section for those unpredictable milder days.

Swap Textiles. Store away breezy throws and linen cushions, replacing them with warmer textures like wool, knits, or velvet. It instantly makes living spaces feel cosy and seasonal.

Refresh Entryway.
Set up a station for umbrellas, wellies, and jackets. A boot tray or mat helps contain muddy shoes as the weather turns wetter.

Adjust Bedding. Switch lightweight duvets for thicker ones, add extra blankets at the foot of beds, and launder summer sets before storing.

Swap Your Decor. Put away any fans, or summer decor and swap for your more Autumnal decor. Cosy blankets are a must (and it's up to you how early you get the pumpkin's - just remember less is often more._

Summer is no longer in session.

Close Down Your Garden

As the end of official Summer is approaching, and the weather is starting to change it's a good time to close down your garden.

Declutter Tools & Furniture. Clean, dry, and store tools in a shed/garage. Stack or cover outdoor furniture and BBQs to prevent damage. Ensure any paddling pools or wet items are fully dried before putting away. Group smaller items in labelled tubs (e.g., “BBQ kit,” “garden games,” “tools”) so you know where it all is next year.

Tidy Beds & Borders. Pull out weeds, cut back dead plants, and add a layer of mulch or compost. It keeps things neat and protects soil over autumn and winter. Consider mowing the lawn shorter than you may usually and cut back any large bushes or branches.

Protect Delicate Plants. Consider moving potted plants that can’t handle the bad weather into a sheltered spot, greenhouse, or indoors. For larger shrubs, use fleece wraps or cloches.

Clear Paths & Gutters. Sweep leaves and debris from paths to prevent slippery surfaces. Clean out gutters to avoid blockages from autumn leaf fall.

UPDATE: A sever weather warning has been issued for Monday, with wind speeds considered to cause debris to fly, so now is a great time to make sure that everything in your garden is organised and put away!

Most primary and secondary school children (in the UK) go back to school tomorrow or later next week so here's some more organisation tips to make that transition smoother. If you don't have children, yours have already flown the nest or are not school age then just keep scrolling!

Ensure all uniform is washed, ironed and name labelled (this is a good Sunday habit to get in to anyway as will make those term time mornings go smoother).

Designate one spot near the door (a basket, box or hooks) where bags, shoes, PE kits, and coats live. This also saves the morning scramble, and encourages your children to help keep a tidy home.

Use a big wall calendar or a shared digital one. Colour-code each child (or parent) so you can see homework deadlines, after-school clubs, and parent meetings at a glance.

Stock a shelf or drawer with lunchbox-friendly snacks, water bottles, and reusable containers. This makes lunch-packing quicker (and kids can even help themselves).

Create a clutter-free 'homework hub' wherever you have the space. This can just be a space stocked with pencils, chargers, paper, and supplies so homework doesn’t migrate all over the house.

Create Your Cool Down

Bank Holiday is upon us and as some parts of the UK are set to have warm weather, now is as good a time as any to set up a 'cool-down' (kit). Set aside a small basket or drawer for items that help on hot days: handheld fans, a spray bottle with water, cooling gel packs, lightweight blinds/curtains, and even a stash of ice lolly moulds. Keeping them together means you’re not hunting around the house the moment a heatwave arrives. If you're set for days out with the famiy why not make sure your car essentials and picnic must-haves are in the same spot. Being organised will certainly help make this weekend a cool one.

It's National Relaxation Day.

We've borrowed this one from across the pond, but we will never miss an opportunity to encourage relaxation or mindfulness.

Take this as a reminder to take a break from the fast-paced and often hectic lifestyles we all lead. Taking time to recuperate and rejuvenate our tired minds and bodies may help prevent many health risks, too.

A tidy home can wait (for today), concentrate on a tidy and calm mind instead.

Hack Your Pack
(Part 2)

Bundle wrapping for wrinkle-free clothes
Instead of packing each item separately, wrap clothes around a central “core” (like a pouch of underwear or socks). This technique keeps garments smoother and saves space.

Stuff empty spaces
Make use of every gap—tuck socks, belts, children's toys and small accessories inside shoes or hats. This prevents wasted space and helps items keep their shape.

Layer like an onion
Wear your bulkiest clothes (like jackets or heavy shoes) during travel to free up space. You can always remove layers once seated on your plane, in the car or when you arrive at your destination.

Double-duty items
Pack clothing and gear that serve more than one purpose—like a scarf that can double as a beach cover-up, or a phone charger that also works as a torch. If you are heading camping or on an adventure holiday, think practical!

Pre-pack a “first-night” kit
Keep a small pouch with pyjamas, toothbrush, basic toiletries, and one fresh outfit. That way, if you arrive tired or there is any issue with your luggage, you have what you need without rummaging through everything.

Hack Your Pack.
(Part 1)

Make a packing list early
Write down everything you’ll need at least a week before your trip. Divide it into categories (clothing, toiletries, documents, electronics, etc.) so you can tick items off as you pack. This helps prevent last-minute stress and forgotten essentials.

Roll, don’t fold
Rolling clothes instead of folding them saves space and helps reduce wrinkles. Use packing cubes or over-door shoe organisers to keep outfits and categories separated, making it easier to find things in your suitcase.

Plan outfits, not just items
Instead of throwing in random clothes, plan complete outfits for each day. Choose versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, and stick to a colour scheme so everything works together.

Use travel-sized containers
Transfer toiletries into small, leak-proof bottles to save space and meet airline liquid restrictions if applicable. Store them in a waterproof pouch in case of spills.

Keep important items in your carry-on
Always pack travel documents, valuables, medications, a change of clothes, and essential toiletries in your carry-on bag—just in case your checked luggage gets delayed.
